What does it matter what color anyone is???

Hi,
I have been reading these blogs as some of the "real life" research I'm doing. No, it's not for a paper but for my children! I am a white female who has recently married a black male. We have been together for five years. I also have two children (6yrs and 9 yrs) who are not mixed but white. This man has not married me for my money (as I have none!) nor for status ( as I have none of that either!) He has taken a role for my children that their own father has/doesn't/nor ever will take in their lives. He supports them emotionally and financially. Which by law, in the state in which I live, makes parental rights. I am trying to have my ex's rights garnished by the state so that my husband can make decisions regarding my children that he should have a right to. He will be adopting them by the end of this year! My point is that you shouldn't see a color or a stereotype. I love my husband for who he is. People in every race make mistakes. We have people everywhere. You can't read a newspaper article about a crime and make an assumption on the race of the person without a description!! So come on people... eventually we wont have any reason to write about the differences because there wont be one.
My dad was very against our relationship at first. He had an image about black men in general. He sat me down last year and told me that because of who my husband is ( a hard working American) he has finally seen how petty he was about racial issues. My husband and I have taught him that color is only skin deep!

I sometimes feel that life would have been better for many if we were all born blind, unable to distinguish body types or skin colors. A great deal of discrimination would cease to exist had this occurred. Color makes absolutely no difference in the type of person an individual is. It should not influence anybody's behaviors or decisions.

It's good that you have found such a good man! I have yet to find a good one at all - regardless of skin color!
