I recently saw something on The Colbert Report about a book called Female Chauvinism. The female author said that through the things like stripping classes and telling dirty jokes women are actually being repressed. I personally think this is bullshit and it is just another way to make females less confident amd more gaurded about their bodies. Women are so offended by what men say and really think yet they demand to be treated like any of the guys. I have worked in places were I am the only girl and when I can talk with the best of the boys and demand the samethings I have power and respect. Never once am I offended by what my guy friends say because I can dishout two times what they say. So in closing I think if women ever want to break through the glass celing maybe they should hav a little fun and enjoy the boys club because it doesn't mean you have to be a slut you just have to know how to tell a dirty joke.

interesting topic i liked what you had to say it was funny
I so agree. I am tomboyish. I love football and baseball. BRONCOS! mymom is so traditional though in a sense. she wont let me hang out with the boys cause of the comments they make. i am like please i get them right back. People are only oppressed when they let themselves be repressed.
Daria over and out!
I completely agree with you about this topic.
It seems that the author of the book princess is talking about is attacking a straw man: just look--every person who has responded so far has agreed that women are free to attain what they want. The author of Female Chauvinism seems to be describing a paradigm that exists nowhere; and if it does, we have four beautiful people here (plus me equals five) to tell them that they are truthfully, really, actually free.

I'm going to have to disagree with you guys. As a guy I feel that if I am lusting after a girl then I am not respecting her. I am thinking of only how I can use her for sexual pleasure, and not respecting what kind of person the girl is or caring how I treat her. I know guys who just go for the easy girls. They know that certain girls they can date and get something from them with little work. Its great to be a Tomboy, and women should be treated equal to men, but if Girls strip, Go wild, wear provocative clothing, or what not, then they are causing themselves to be disrespected by the other sex.
I think you misunderstood what I said I didn't mean women should strip in public to garner respect I meant that woman should feel free to renact striptease in intimate relationships. I dont think women should dress sexy to get respect either. What I meant was that women could gain respect by not becoming offended by what men say but rather being witty and combative with their comebacks. I hope you did not take me to be a feminist stripper.<3 Tina
Women have a lot of power over guys when they are doing those things in a lot of cases.
I saw that woman on the show. Her comments about female repression were ridiculous.
A lot of people follow those beliefs though.
I agree with you. I don't get offended by dirty jokes. i think stripping classes actually help women be more comfortable with their bodies. I have had male friends and hung out with my male relatives. they can be a "rauchy." but it amused me. i didnt think they were direspecting me at all. but of course i'm not up tight.
Guys dont really think to much about if what they say is disrespectful or not they just say things so often girls think they mean much worse than they actually do.
