Doing the Right Thing, But being in the Wrong Place.

Went to a party Mom...

I went to a party,
And remembered what you said.
You told me
not to drink, Mom,
so I had a sprite instead.

I felt proud of myself,
The way you said I would,
that I didn't drink and drive,
though some friends said I should.

I made a healthy choice,
And your advice to me was right.
The party finally ended,
and the kids drove out of sight.

I got into my car,
Sure to get home in one piece.
I never knew what was coming, Mom,
something I expected least.

Now I'm lying on the pavement,
And I hear the policeman say,
the kid that caused this wreck was drunk,
Mom, his voice seems far away.

My own blood's all around me,
As I try hard not to cry.
I can hear the paramedic say,
this girl is going to die.

I'm sure the guy had no idea,
While he was flying high.
Because he chose to drink and drive,
now I would have to die.

So why do people do it, Mom
Knowing that it ruins lives?
And now the pain is cutting me,
like a hundred stabbing
knives.

Tell sister not to be afraid, Mom
Tell daddy to be brave.
And when I go to heaven,
put ' Mommy's Girl' on my grave.

Someone should have taught him,
That it's wrong to drink and drive.
Maybe if his parents had,
I'd still be alive

My breath is getting shorter,
Mom I'm getting really scared
These are my final moments,
and I'm so unprepared.

I wish that you could hold me Mom,
As I lie here and die.
I wish that I could say, 'I love you, Mom!'
So I love you and good-bye

This was sent to me by email from a friend. It’s sad how many people are innocently killed by drunk drivers. It’s sad that drunk driver’s just know that they can hold their “liquor”. Then when they hit someone they are just like, Ohh. My bad.Or they feel so guilty they wish that they could drink away the pain. I posted this message because I am so tired of hearing or seeing someone get killed out of another’s selfishness. You know you are going to drink so don’t drive. Get someone to take you home. Quit killing innocent people. Now MADD has a petition going on and they are trying to get 5000 signatures. So far they are at #1480. If you would like to add your name to the list, please tell me and I will email it to you.Make sure you pass it on to others. Thanks.

I think I might have seen this poem in school once. So very sad.

I'll sign the petition. I'll PM my email to you so I don't get any random emails.

This is very sad. Here is another one I found that makes me sad but is a good poem

Near the door he paused to stand
As he took his class ring off her hand
All who were watching did not speak
As a silent tear ran down his cheek
And through his mind ran the moments
They walked and ran in the sand.
But now her eyes were so terribly cold
He would never again have her to hold.
They all watched in silence as he bent near
And whispered the words “I love you” in her ear.
He touched her face and started to cry
As he put on his class ring and wanted to die
The cold wind began to blow
As they lowered her casket into the snow
This is what happens to man alive
when people decide to drink and drive

Wow . That really is a good poem also. I just hate that some people don't consider others when they drink. It's just sad. Thanks for the comment.

Another great poem. Man, I wish these things made an impact on the people who cause the damage! How many drunks do you think pay attention to Public Service Announcements or influential poems? I hope some do.

Only a few pay attention and the majority feel like it is not going to happen to them so they just keep on doing what they want to do.
