Barack or Hillary?

I wonder which our country is ready for...a black president or a female president. It's a very hard question to answer. I would hope we are ready to accept a black man for president, but sadly, I don't believe it's true. You need only look at the comments spewed by Don Imus to realize that.

I think it's sad, really, that as a country we can't unite and choose what's best for this country based on real facts and real issues. It is not the color of ones skin that determines their worth, their value to society. It is their core belief system; their family values, their stance on current, past, and future issues. It's their humanity, their humility, their honesty. It's their willingness to stand up and own up to their mistakes; their willingness to speak out for people otherwise unspoken for.

I truly believe that Barack Obama would be a wonderful asset to this country as our next president. It is time for a real, progressive change. Don't misunderstand me, I do like Hillary. I just believe that in a way, we'd be taking a political step backward if she were elected. I do think it would do wonders for American women. It would be extremely empowering for us to have a woman president. But realistically, the Clinton era has passed. It is time to usher in a new beginning. One that shows the world that we are, indeed, a fair country. It's time for blacks to know that we do have a voice. Barack Obama is like the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel for many blacks in this country who feel out of place, like we are outsiders, like we don't belong. Although we were brought here hundreds of years ago, against our will, this is OUR COUNTRY too. When you think about it, much of what we appreciate was built on the blood, sweat and tears of African slaves. That means this country was founded upon our backs. It's time for blacks to shine like the radiant wonderful human beings that we are. It is time for everyone to know that blacks aren't just singers, rappers, and sports stars. It is time for someone to stand up for us and lead our country into prosperity.

I agree that having a black man as president would be helpfull to us as a nation. I just don't think that people should rush out to vote for him just because he is black. Lets just wait and see where he stands on the issues. He was on the Late Show a few nights ago. I liked what I saw, he seemed like a real human being, unlike most political figures who just do what they have to do to get elected.

I agree about the issues. Barack's stance on the main issues fall in line with my own beliefs. In addition to that, he does seem very down to earth and approachable. I would NEVER vote for someone based on their race. If that was the case, I'd have endorsed Al Sharpton or Rev. Jesse James! Those two don't belong anywhere near Capitol Hill. Mr. Obama is an asset to the black community, as well as our country as a whole. He promotes unity among all races.

As Nietzsche once said "You have your way, I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist."
