Religion. One of the world's most controversial subjects. Good versus evil. One of the most used themes in literature, movies, etc.
Last night, I watched the movie, Constantine, starring Keanu Reeves and Rachel Weiss. I also watched the A&E series, Paranormal State. If you're unfamiliar with them, they both deal with demons and other paranormal things.
Although I've never seen or witnessed anything paranormal, I still believe there are things, forces, entities out there somewhere, other than us. I believe that when we die, we either go to heaven, hell, or purgatory; where we wait for our final fates to be decided.
Both the movie Constantine and certain episodes of the series, Paranormal State deal with people who can see and sense things; demons. Sometimes they're just black mist or clouds forming with no apparent shape or solidity. Other times, they're people. Sometimes people only sense the evil in the room, making them uncomfortable or uneasy.
I, personally, am blind to all things paranormal. I've never experienced anything such as this. I hope I never have to, as well.
Because religion usually relies solely on beliefs, there's no hard evidence of what is real and true; and even if there was proof, people would excuse it away as a hoax. It is natural in human behavior to fear the unknown. Are we the only life forms in the universe? I sincerely doubt it.
I don't really know what I'm trying to say here, or if I have a point. I'm just kind of spilling my thoughts to see if anyone shares similar beliefs. I had a better idea of what I wanted to say last night while watching the movie, but it's long since been forgotten.
It just astounds me that although we may be geniuses, although we may know all the facts on earth, there is no one here that literally knows everything about everything. We live sch short lifespans compared to all the things there is to know; it's impossible for us mere mortals to acquire all this knowledge in one lifetime. Therefore, I believe that while we are roaming the earth, we are, in a sense, blind. Blind with selfishness, jealousy, greed, and all other petty things. But as soon as we enter heaven, I believe we gain all the knowledge of the universe. Our eyes are opened to the entire world. All the questions of man, automatically answered. I believe once we enter heaven, we gain the gift of clairvoyance as well.
Being a catholic, I also believe in Purgatory; also known as Limbo by other cultures. It is a place between heaven, Earth, and hell where souls who are not damned enough to go to hell, yet not worthy enough to go to heaven, wait. The souls wait, working off their sins, hoping to become worthy of entering heaven. I believe that purgatory is almost just as bad as hell. Constantly waiting in a world of gray; no color, no joy, just working and waiting.
Aside from my Catholic beliefs, i believe that our souls get recycled, in a sense. This results in what is called "past lives". I believe that in "past lives", a soul can be any gender, no matter what gender you are in your present life. For example, I believe I may have been a great Grecian philosopher such as Socrates in a past life, which would explain why I love knowledge. It sounds absurd, but it's possible. Who knows? I'd love to know.
I sincerely believe in the paranormal. Everything from Irish folklore such as faeries, leprechauns, to aliens, angels, demons, ghosts, and such. It's dizzying to think how many things just might exist that we don't even know about; yet we are entirely blind to them. How can so many different beings live and coexist in the same world without being seen?
Well, maybe there's different dimensions other than the one we are in now. Maybe some of us mere mortals can only see what's in our own dimension, while others can see things in many dimensions at once. This is the kind of concept shown in Constantine. When John Constantine goes into hell, it's a parallel universe of the one he's currently in. Everything is exactly the same, only much much worse. Cars are corroding away, there's a blistering wind, and all the people are fighting amongst each other. It's a very dizzying concept to even imagine another world or dimension besides ours, but I believe that all the dimensions overlap. God can see everyone and everything at once; and there are a very few gifted people who have the ability to see into other dimensions, but the majority of the population can only see the dimension that is before them. those who can see into other dimensions, I believe it's like looking beyond a veil, or like those mirrors in those interrogation rooms at the cop's headquarters where to you, it's only just a mirror, but others can see you through it.
This is a very dizzying concept for me, but I just needed to write down my thoughts and beliefs so that maybe others might see things the way I see them. I have no idea how accurate my beliefs are, because they're only guesses serving as explanations to why things are. it will be interesting to know how close or far from the truth I am. I really do hope that heaven holds the gift of vast knowledge. i want to know everything. I want to be certain about everything.
Then again, isn't this mindset the sort that got Lucifer, the Angel of Light, banned from heaven? I don't want to BE God; or be HIGHER than God, I just want to have eyes wide open to everything, and know very many things.
Well, I think I've puzzled too much about all this. My puzzler is sore. Lol, Dr. Seuss is amazing.
Anyways, thanks for listening. Comments are very much encouraged and appreciated.

I loved your blog, it was very nice and very informative. Constantine is one of my all-time favorites movies. Im also catholic . . . well . . .born catholic. I don really want to label myself because im still searching for what i believe in. I guess you could say im a agnostic-catholic. I studied religon in highschool and continued through college. It is very intresting to me how some people can put their entire life and soul into the "hands" of someone or something have no proof over. Im kinda stuck between things too lol . . . i believe in darwins theories and I believe in evolution, but something is holding me back from completely believing in one religon or idea.
I agree Purgatory(limbo) would be place worse than heaven or hell.. . . . no emotion . ..nothing scary to even think about. . . . .
I love your Dr. Seuss quote im going to borrow it . . . lol it made me think of Hortons Hears a Who i just saw that funny stuff peace have a great day
I completely agree with your views as well. When I was really little, my Catholic belief was strong, but as I grew older and less innocent, things changed. I'm still not sure what I believe in. I believe in a lot of different things. I'm also part Irish, so I believe in some of the ancient pagan beliefs as well.
I also believe aliens exist, and that notion scares the crap out of me! I hate alien movies.
It's neat to have someone share the same kind of beliefs as you. I'm glad I added you as a friend.
