Allowing guns would make campuses more dangerous
Great intentions don't guarantee good results, as an ill-conceived bill by state Sen. Hank Erwin, R-Montevallo, shows.
Erwin wants to override the ban of guns, except for law enforcement officers, on state campuses. His measure would allow teachers to carry firearms as well as certain students - basically those who had proper licenses, hadn't gotten into trouble and were participating in an ROTC program.

A 6-year-old Midfield Elementary School student was suspended Wednesday after officials discovered he had carried a relative's handgun to school. "We got a call from the school about 10 o'clock that they had found a 6-year-old student in possession of a handgun," White said. "Of course, we went over there and that was the case. He had a loaded .40-caliber pistol with him."

Guns in Schools....SAFETY or ASKING FOR MURDER?
There has been discussion on guns in schoold for certain reasons. My opinion is that there should not be guns on campus unless you are a certified police office. Protection....from what? Kids are there for 1 reason and one reason only and that is an EDUCATION. What is your opinion? Do you think that the teacher should be strapped? The principal? The janitor? The lunch lady? SPEAK ON IT.

I have always thought it would be a good idea for teachers to have stun guns in their desks, BUT for one reason only: and that is for an incident where someone might break in and cause trouble..or if a student has a gun, and is shooting. If a teacher has a stun gun, they can take the shooter down without killing him, and get the weapon away from them.
I think we would need to have better teachers though, because I wouldn't doubt that a teacher now-a-days would whip out their stun-gun for no other purpose but intimidation, and harm to an innocent student.
Also, security is a lot higher. Doors are locked, and in some schools there are metal detectors and daily checks. (We get a once over on our book-bags (Which are mesh and see through, and teachers take a peek inside closed gym bags) So defintely NO guns (expect on VERY large college campus's and only uniformed security should be allowed to have them (with the PROPER training, of course)
No guns
At school
AT ALL!
I don't think anyone should be able to bring a gun to school, no matter what, unless they're part of law enforcement. Teachers and security guards are not.
