At least he does according to Westboro Baptist Church as they so blatantly exclaim on their website, www.godhatesfags.com.
Upon opening their page, one sees brightly colored signs reading "god hates fags", "god hates you," and "god hates the USA."
I guess they are without sin for they are casting stones at an alarming rate.
They twist the words of the bible into hate. This is one of their favorites: ".Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. Rom. 9:13. God doesn't love everyone, you simpleton. How long will you love simplicity? Prov. 1:22."
The members of this congregation regularly protest funerals of homosexuals. They were recently sued for a protest they led on a soldier killed in Iraq who was a homosexual.
They also protest the funeral of Heath Ledger. They actually have an entire blog on him. It is so close minded that I can not even take it seriously. I just see it as a big joke. The problem is, it is no joke. They are serious. They have actual and immense hatred for gays and those who accept other for their sexual orientation.
They claim that the "war on terrorism" we are facing right now is our punishment from god for accepting homosexuality.
I find it hard to believe that a church, a community of god, could react with such hate and close mindedness. I say to each his own. We all have different beliefs and views on this world and how we came to be. More power to those who have faith in a god, but to have faith in a god full of hate is a sad thing.

It is a shame how people who claim to be "God's children" give their father a bad rep. I like youtr post.
Regardless of whether they believe homosexuality is wrong, they should realize that the Bible treats it no differently from any other sin. To God, all sins are the same, so if homosexuality is a sin, then it is the same as lying, not better or worse. On top of that, it says all over in the Bible that "God so loved the world" and Jesus was criticized for loving and spending time with sinners, including prostitutes. Just because the Bible says homosexuality is wrong doesn't mean God hates homosexuals.
You are SO right. There is no sin that is better than any other one. Once everybody realizes this then we can go on with our lives and just try to be the best human being that we possibly can.

I soo agree with you! WOW! This just "makes my blood boil". I once heard before, that you can't just read sentences here and there, because they are all important. If God hates homosexuals then he hates everyone on this earth, incuding the people at that church! A sin is a sin, and i do believe that God gets angry when we sin but he doesn't hate us! I he obviously loves us or he wouldn't of sent his son to pay the price of every sin that each and everyone of us create! I could go on and on.....
You do know where they get the idea of terrorism right? The Bible does say that any country that does not follow God will be punished. Personally it sounds like God really needs to learn how to be nicer. But this is where those people are getting that statement from.
You might not believe it but it is true. The wars between the Catholics and Protestants was from close-minded individuals. But freedom of speech guarantee's WBC the right to say what they say and protest when not encroaching on someone else or their property, which the WBC knows very well and never does.
I don't like them, but one of their arguments is from the Bible and they are entitled to their opinion under the 1st amendment.
I'm not upset that they are able to say that. In all honesty, seeing a website such as this enables me (especially as a journalist) to find comfort in the fact that as Americans, we are able to say things like that. It is wonderful. I do not agree with the content, but I agree that they should be able to say what they will.
The idea of terrorism isn't in the Bible, because when God in the Bible wants people punished, He does it Himself. Terrorism (in the usual contemporary sense) is based on a fundamentalist extreme reading of the Qu'ran, not the Bible.
God does it through people. Slavery through the Egyptians, so if this God exists, which i highly doubt, then this is a normal response.
Just like you mentioned in your blog, only he with out sin may cast the first stone. And since we are all with sin and flawed we have NO right to judge anyone. We certainly cannot cast people to hell.
The purpose of being a Christian is to be "Christ like" . And in my opinion being Christ like means instead of judging people and hating them, you need to love embrace, and always be willing to help.
Jesus was the only person who was without sin and he was crucified!!!
I will just hope that we all realize that hate will consume you and the more that you hate it becomes a handicap and all things around you will suffer.

I am not one to use derogatory terms if I don't have to, and I don't believe for a moment that God hates anyone. God is a loving father and He loves all His children. Just like our birth parents sometimes are hurt by our bad choices, I think God is disappointed that people make the choice to act on their homosexual urges. Homosexuality is probably frowned upon because the sacred right of sexual relations is reserved to married couples wanting to create life and express love for each other. That is why God made male and female everything. Even plants cannot procreate without male and female parts. They aren't there just to fondle and have fun with. Males are supposed to mate with females and vice versa. God designed it that way, so He knows how it is supposed to be. But like alcoholism and pedophilia, some people have urges that are not in alignment with what God wants His children to do. Wanting to do something isn't wrong. It is when you act upon it that it becomes sin, and God will love us anyway. We may be judged according to His laws, but He is still going to love us. God doesn't hate anyone or anything.
Bacteria, fungi, protists, viruses.
All reproduce without male and female parts.
And I'm offended by your comparison of homosexuality to pedophilia and alcoholism.

On the one hand, the Westboro Baptist Church is not really representative of the mainstream christian community. These people are religious "nuts" of the highest order.
But on the other hand, let's not pretend that the bible offers a welcoming hand to gay and lesbian people.
"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them." (Leviticus 20:13)
Its hard for me to give much credence to a claim of "love" coming from anyone waving around a book that says that they should kill me.

That was before Christ came! Christ took it upon himself to forgive every sin that human kind makes! Therefore if we ask for forgiveness for these sins then we are NOT put to death for them! That was the whole point of the crucifixtion!
If one asserts (and to the best of my knowledge all christian denominations do) that the "god" of the old testament is the same "god" of the new, and the myth of the coming of "christ" doesn't really mitigate (IMHO) the murderous brutality which the bible attibutes to "god." I can't for the life of me think of a reason that I would want to worship an entity that demands the life of two people for the "sin" of loving one another.

I agree with you. I am a raised Catholic, but i would never consider myself one. As a child I always feared God because of the violence and blood shed in the bible and the idea of an eternal hell for sins.
I believe in the virtues of christianity. Good morals and values are a must for a functioning happy society. Yet, on the other hand, I do not believe that the christian beliefs should be shoved down a persons throat. I have no problem with christianity, i just have a problem with the christians who resond to adversity with violence and/or hatred towards another human being.
That particular verse, so often cited, is a part of a system of laws for an ancient theocracy in which all citizens were members of the Jewish faith. It also proscribes death for many other sins, such as disobedience to parents. The New Testament acknowledges the existence of nonbelievers and secular governments, and thus simply indicates that those "living in sin" are to be encouraged to change or face removal from the group. Christianity (and by extension Christian morality) is a choice. Since you do not subscribe to Christian values, you cannot be expected to conform to them. The problem is that some Christians want to legislate their morality for the entire population and thus remove its voluntary nature. The Bible also has far more texts dealing with love and specifically loving the person even if you disagree with their lifestyle/practices than it does condemning people to death.
I am not even sure that being gay is a sin. I have never read that in the Bible. It could be and it could not be in the Bible. I am not saying that it is not in the Bible. I do though, believe that God made man for woman and woman for man. I do not support gay people but I do not condem them either! I have gay friends. I do not know if gay people will go to Hell. I think that if gay poeple realized that "Gay people are going to Hell" are man's words and not God's, unless it's in the Bible which i'm not sure about, then they may want to be christians. Some christians do not realize the damage they are doind to God's fight when they say things like this! It really ticks me off! I think that this is what Satan wants christians to say!
