Does anyone else on here find it odd that some really good blogs are rated quite low?
Have you ever seen a really good blog posted on the Most Highly Rated list for about a day and then suddenly dissappear?? I have come to the conclusion that there are Hater Raters.
By that, i mean, that someone either disagrees with a blog or want their blog rated higher, so...they maybe give the blog one or two stars. My theory comes from the fact that all of the comments on the blog are so great, but the rating is like 3 stars! Why doesnt the person who gave such a low rating comment to explain themselves and why they rated that way?
I think they are haters. I have read some very good blogs that I think deserve five stars, but somehow, they seem to get 3.7 or something like that. But all of the comments are praising the writer.
So, to all you hater raters out there...stop what youre doing, so that others can enjoy the great blogs posted on this site.

I think you're accurate in what you're saying... we saw a lot of that last contest too. A post would be on the Highest Rated list with 5 stars, and 10 minutes later it would only have three.
However, there are also people that have differing opinions of what deserves what rating. I, for example, will only give 5's to posts that I promote to the front page. I've promoted one, maybe two, since the contest started. I give 4's to most of the blogs that I rate, because they're good, but not phenomenal. I give 3's to blogs that have formatting problems (spelling, grammar, that sort of thing), or that just say something without provoking much thought or feeling. I give 2's to blogs that are worse in terms of grammar and spelling, or that introduce a subject, but don't follow through with it. I rarely give out 1's, as those are reserved for posts with absolutely no point to them.

for that reason exactly. There's a couple of people on here that I will agree with 100%, then I'll be arguing with them in the next blog. The two that come to mind off the top of my head is engkatemarie and lancekates. They are awesome people and they write really well and I will give anyone on here a good rating for GOOD writing even if I hate what they say 100%. I don't even write blogs anymore because my writing is no where as good as a lot of other people on here. ; )
Blogs should be rated for content, writing ability, and truthliness.
If it is well written but you don't agree, don't leave a rating. It's better than rating a good post low.
