As a senior with less than 20 days left of school i am use to all of the dress code bull and not really worried about it but here is my opinion.. our dress code pretty much sucks!!
guys must shave and have their hair a certin length one year we had a vice principle that went so far as set up a "salon" for guys that had their hair to long..
i mean it didint cost anything and i think it was extra credit for some girls from the local community college in cosmotolgy. good for them.. but that is crap our principle had far better things to be worrying about..
i mean what about the almost 20 girls just in 2007 & 2008 that have had babies in my high school or are about too??
guys also cant have piercings..
girls are only suppose to have their ears pierced..
we arent suppose to wear vulgar stuff..
we arent allowed to be almost nude..
and well i guess with all the babies already being born we dont need that..
but i think they are taking away from self expression..
why werent you teaching sex ed instead of worrying about looks.. ?

Dress code is not always to stop that. Most of the time I hear about dress code, is so people dont get teased for what they are wearing. No matter what you wear some people are going to get pregnant and some aren't. Some people are going to get teased some aren't. No matter what happens someone is oging to have an argument. Someone just need to decide what is oging to happen and stick to it. Sounds like your principal may have taken it to far, but as lng as he is fair and makes everyone do that I guess it is ok.
i wasnt saying young girls sre getting preg because of what they wear..
i simply meant our school has far more important things to be worrying about besides dress code..
and our dress code is suppose to be so we dont get "distracted" a guy with long hair is not as disracting as 15 high school girls walking around about to pop..

I think the dress codes are designed more for trying to keep students on target. Some studies have shown that if a person dresses neatly that their performance increases. I can also see how having a dress code can prevent distractions among other students. If students aren't preoccupied with the latest styles and what others are wearing, it may be easier to focus in school.
As far as those who are pregnant, I doubt they're having sex at school, but rather outside of school where no dress codes apply. The two are not related at all.

i never meant the 2 are related or that people are having sex at school just that my school has enough problems they should be worrying about not facial hair..
and people at my school do worry about the latest styles.. we dont have uniforms just arent allowed to wear certain things... and expensive clothes shoes etc are allowed.

My high school had a dress code. I even had to wear the "community" pants once because my skirt was not the appropriate length. I did, however, learn by having a dress code what would be considered professional dress and what is unacceptable in society. For example, I wouldn't wear my pajama bottoms to work in an office. Also I think schools enforcing dress codes are concerned with causing distractions among students. Girls wearing thongs and low pants to show off their thongs are a HUGE distractions for the poor teenage boys that may get a hard-on from such dress. Schools exist for education, not necessarily expression.
Dress code in school sucks. Big time. It always has. They believe if they make you dress a certain way, you will want to dress that way all the time. It will teach you a lot of discipline. Yeah right. In college they don't care what you wear, whether you go to class or not or if you fail or pass. Down here in Dallas, TX they are making all of the school district wear uniforms except my school that I graduated from. We made sure we banned that. We even went up to the school district protesting. Congratulations on graduating. I know it was a long road for you.

well i use to get on here during 3rd period at school because well i became addicted and never had anythin else to do.. but my librarian saw I was on here and told me not to be..
this is a perfectly fine website she just neeeds to get a life..
