let them have their childhood too

When it comes to sexual exploitation, children are being viewed and treated as criminals by law enforcement and judicial authorities. Countries that view child prostitutes in this manner treat the child in such a cruel manner, up to even killing them. They are not viewed as victims, even with all the previous torture they faced themselves with.
Although we live in a world where we want justice for all, that truly isn’t the case for everyone. Sexual exploitation of children is becoming a highly alarming issue throughout the years, and it is an issue that needs to be tackled on immediately and in a more effective manner or else there will be many children who will face a grim future. This issue is occurring all around the world, yet there are still a significant amount of people who won’t take action about it.

According to organizations such as Human Rights Watch, a “very large number of children are used for commercial sexual purposes every year, often ending up with their health destroyed” These children are being tortured, abused both physically and emotionally, raped, beaten, and sometimes even killed if they don’t follow orders. These children are being tricked into the idea that the clients they serve are truly healthy, when in fact they might have sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV/AIDS. These children are sometimes used as a form of debt payment, since the families that they come from need the money to support themselves and cannot afford to buy back their child.

It is quite disappointing and shocking to see that there are people sick enough to treat these children in such a manner. Sex tourists seem to have the nerve to go all the way to foreign countries in pursuit of torturing a innocent child, just so he can be sexually pleased. That is just sickening. These children have been brainwashed to believe that this is the only life that they have, and that there is no possible escape for them. They don’t realize that they have the ability to speak out and have a true childhood.

You, as the reader, think about your own childhood. Most likely merry and simply happy, right? Unfortunately, this type of childhood isn’t experienced by up to 2 million children who are forced into the sex trade. If we, as the free citizens that we are, don’t take on this issue in one way or another, our future generation will certainly face themselves with the lives that they truly don’t deserve. We can all help out, in one way or another. Even speaking out to your friends and family can be a big help in the end.

Wow, very good! I've been thinking about blogging about child trafficking for some time now, but this was very well done. My pastor showed this video onece, and it was so good. It has such a powerful message.

It is horrible that it goes on, and efforts are made to stop it, but as you said, it is not enough. Under-developed countries have no resources to try, and may not even believe it is wrong. Cultures around the globe are radically different. Do you have an idea for the effort toward changing this? I cannot imagine what the size of an attack on child trafficing would have to be- in order for it to make a difference.

So many people are uncomfortable with this subject, they turn away from hearing it, much less writing about it. Kudos for that.
