Why Blog

Tagged:

Why does one blog? Its an excellent question. Some say personal freedom. Some say to keep in touch. Some use it as a creative outlet, a place to rant, or a place to share ideas. Has the thought ever occurred to anyone though, that maybe some people blog to keep up with the rest of the world? To keep up with technology and one's peers? I was not into blogging to much until recently. I was fairly computer illiterate, and it was a source of research and email for me. It is more and more popular now though for people to communicate through blogs and online forums and message boards. I even have classes where our primary contact with other students is through online message boards and blogs. I don't take a great thrill in blogging personal facts like some people, or sharing creative work. I'm a fairly private person. Even now, here on this site, I can win scholarships and prizes from blogging. Its just another progression in human society. Some people experienced the same thing with televisions, cell phones, dvd players. "You don't have a cell phone???" and eventually they did. The same holds true for blogging. Right now its in transition, where people can still look at you funny and ask if you don't have one. But soon, inevitably, it will be as widespread and common as a television. There is no escaping technology.
