What's So Freaking Great About Myspace ?

Someone please tell me what is so great about myspace. Why do so many people seem soooo addicted to the cybersite of myspace? Oooo... you can post pictues, have a profile of yourself, meet new people...SO WHAT!?! I have friends that will spend almost their entire day on myspace; writing comments, changing their background, changing their pictures, and meeting all these new (and sometimes strange) people.
People obsess over their pages and they make the site seem like it is the GREATEST thing ever invented. I mean, what's the big deal? Isn't myspace just a substitute for going out and meeting people in the REAL world and getting to know what a person is really like instead of just looking at their profile and the stuff that they write about themselves (that may or may not be true)? What would make a person want to subscribe to the world of myspace? because I don't see anything that is really so great about it. Everything that you do on there, you could actually just do on your own. You don't need this site post pictures or to send a friend a message, or to meet new people or learn nabout events that are going on. A person could do all of these things on their own. So why do people even need to have a myspace??
What's so great about it?

Kids are now substituting the internet with person to person interaction. Hiding behind a computer is now less confrontational, and therefore more appealing to those who are more introverted. It's like internet dating services, they keep growing becuase people want to meet people, and avoid physical interaction.... I don't get it either...

I feel your sentiments but seriously it is a place that people can network with people all other the country and show there different personalities. I am very optimistic I can not help but see the silver lining.
