Racism and unfair things

So I log on and notice some blogs about racism so I thought maybe I could post some of my thoughts and views.

Racism is inevitable, but we have definitely come a long way. But of course we still experience racism. I will first talk about the Bell shootings in NY and what happened after the verdicts. I know this is old but it is just something to mention. So, the detectives were acquitted and it started this whole little riot and stuff. Then comes Al Sharpton. I don't know about anyone else but I think he is ridiculous. Not being racist, just an observation. Well whenever there is something to happen to a black person whether it may be a shooting, insulting comment, or some other act that can be connected to racism Sharpton always comes up into the picture. He talks about how racist things are, how people need to battle racism, and all that other good stuff. Fine it is good that he stands up for his people.

But what about when blacks target a group intentionally because of race? Where was Al Sharpton to say that was bad and to not do that again? Doesn't seem fair. And theres no person like Al Sharpton for the whites, asians, or hispanics. At least not as prominent as Sharpton is. So again, he attacks people when they do something wrong against his people but its okay for them to do wrong to others? That's not fair. Then he stirs up a giant rally about how racist America is and people should be more fair. Well it's not fair that these other groups can be victims while the blacks cannot because then it's just racism. I am just saying, If he is going to start a national riot he probably should think about what the blacks do to others.

There are many scholarships to benefit the minorities. Sounds good but who are the minorities? Majority o these scholarships call for Native Americans (which is fair), blacks and hispanics. Okay, but what about the Asians? They probably have the least amount of influence within the government and society and are considered minorities. Now the Middle Easterns I feel bad for because they are referred to as terrorists, and while we have become more accepting of them than before the terrorist jokes are like the new blonde jokes. It is unfortunate for a group of people to be associated with a negative thing because someone decides to do something bad. So I say we should be more accepting and drop the terrorist jokes. But thats my opinion.

Whites get blamed for most of the racism. It is unfortunate but thats what people are doing. This country is actually becoming a place for basically the minorities. What I mean by that is that the government offers so much benefits and stuff such as the scholarships and etc to the minorities that it leaves nothing for the whites.

Now I am in the NYC public school system. This year was a bit different for spring break. Easter and Passover were separated and our spring break would be during passover. Now what is up with that? For those who don't know the public schools are given off on the important jewish holidays. Sure we get off on christmas but still, what about the other christian or muslim holidays? I use to be in christian school so we would get off on st. patricks day and other big days along with more days off before christmas. But there are other important holidays for other groups of people and the day off isnt given. That doesn't seem fair.

Well I guess I will end it here. These are just some of my views. Please comment, I would like to hear your views and opinions. So I will leave you with that.

I think that after a hundred years of having spring break over Easter, it's probably ok to have spring break over passover one year. And students can miss school for religious holidays, even if it is not a school release day.

easter and passover would fall in close time to get both off, its not as if I am saying that it should always be easter. It's just like having off on yom kippur and rosh hashannah why those days and not others?

Rosh Hashannah and Yom Kippur are the two holiest days in the Jewish year. They are days spent in prayer at the temple and on Yom Kippur, fasting. I think the choice to make those a school release day is probably related to percentages. There's no point in having school on Rosh Hashannah if 30% of your student body is absent every year. (I don't know the actual percentages...just grabbed that one willy nilly).

Now, Ramadan is a month long, so it isn't really reasonable to cancel school the entire month, but if our society were a Muslim majority, I bet school wouldn't start until after Ramadan (it's in the fall). But then again, do Muslim nations stop everything for Ramadan? The standard observance of these holidays sets the tone. If students aren't telling the administration "Excuse my child these days for the observance of Eid," the administration would have no reason to believe there is a need to cancel school.
