What Will People Do for Money??

What are teens doing for money these days?

A news report was just published of what a 15 year old boy did to pick up some spending money in Florida.

Ritchie Calvin Davis, who is just old enough to get a permit in his state, stole a public transportation bus and began collecting fares. He went without a problem until a passenger dialed 911, suspicious because of his young looks. This wasn't Davis' first time doing this either. He was still on probation for doing the same thing with a tour bus 10 months ago.

This story caught my eye because he is not much younger than I and it is amazing that he could manage to do this. A public transportation bus is very large and the driver not only has to know how to manage the size through the streets, but he also has to know how to raise aand lower the bus, and how to shift.

Was he doing this for the money, or just for his love of buses?

This is probably not just about the money but rather, a child trying to seek a thrill. Too bad this thrill will endanger will hurt people...As for the person who called 911 we all should have that kind of observance and realize what the reality that people make rash decisions repeatedly. Why did he just get probation for stealing a tour bus. This seems to me like it would be a felony and Grand Theft Auto. This seems like a flaw in the court system

I agree.. what was wrong with the court system that gave a kid that did this only probation, what is his punishment now. Especially considering the focus that people have put on the media and videogames effect on children, I am wondering where the lobbyists were on this one.

I think this young man is SPECIAL ! Not as in retarded but as in GENIUS.

I think it's rash to judge that he jeopardized his occupants. I'm ->guessing<- he knew precisely what he was doing and it wasn't just for the chump change or the teenage bragging rights. I believe those are the easy/cheap answers people sling because they're lazy.

I think there is more to this young man than meets the eye. He has courage, determination, skills developed by his observation-imagination and most importantly to put all that into ACTION.

I'm not saying what he did was right or that his Father should be proud, BUT instead of 'court system', 'probation', 'punishment', 'media', 'videogames' and 'lobbyists' (geez), MAYBE this young man could be SPECIAL. I think he might have a lot to contribute and he's worth looking into; not as a science/math Albert Einstein, but unless he's a total retard (which I don't believe) I truly think he's GIFTED and should be developed as such.

People these days do some really stupid things. but i do have to say, this boy must be very smart to have done this and gotten away with it for as long as he did. He had to have known what he was doing. But really, why is it so hard for people to earn money these days without committing a crime?
