What we need in the world

I am not quite sure what any human being is searching for, we say we want happiness but of course we spend so much of our time running from it. Then of course we say we want love but then we walk away from the ones that clearly feel a strong emotion and we hang on to the ones that are not even worth our time. We sabotage our own existence, we go out and spend a ton of money in search of the fountain of youth to sustain life and go off and invest in weapons and chemicals that minimize it. I just clearly don't understand whether we as a society are moving forward or our we moving towards a technologically advanced yet emotional primitive age? We as a society are so emotionally dead and how could anyone blame us? We look at movies that pretty much make us immune to another human being getting their head chopped off, now it is possible for you to watch a man be hanged (i.e. Saddam Husein), we also are able to watch some random dude in search for his 15 min of fame, try to imitate jackass and stick a Lego car clear up his ass. I am not at all saying that we should cry and feel sorry about everything but it is clear that we should feel some type of sympathy for our fellow man. The destruction of another human being should evoke the need to want to help, to want to mourn their lost, the fact that a neighbor goes the extra mile to save his/her home but still in the end loses it to foreclosure is an issue that regardless what any one wants to believe affects us all.
