The war on terrorism has defined the last six years or so, whether for better or for worse. Nobody is denying that the United States is under attack from people who hate us: to deny that would be to live in a dreamworld of marshmallows and unicorns. But the "War on Terrorism" has been used by unscrupulous weasels to get people to do things that are not in their interest, especially when it comes to our cherished civil rights. The War on Terror has been used to usurp some of our rights, and this is a travesty.
"America! Scary evil men living in caves want to take your freedom
away! To prevent that from happening you must give your freedoms to
these men in suits! They can't take our freedom away if we give it up first!"
The civil liberties established by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are what sets our country apart from so many others. Our government was founded on the principle that people should be free. The Bill of Rights establishes our inalienable freedoms. Our entire criminal justice system is based on the notion that it is better to let 100 convicts go free than to wrongly imprison one man. Clearly, when people say that they love America, what they mean is that they love the freedoms that we as Americans enjoy in our everyday lives.
However, the War on Terror has changed this. We have begun to sacrifice the rights we hold so dear. Our fourth-amendment rights to be free of unreasonable search and seizure? Bah! Who needs to be free of random police searches? After all, only the guilty have something to hide, right? Why not let that arrogant, ignorant, jackbooted TSA thug rifle through your bag? Why not expand warrantless wiretapping and surveillance of suspects?
Onto another right: freedom of speech. Remember 'Free Speech Zones?' That was what the government called it when they tried to suppress the voices of those who disagreed with our government. Now, I don't neccesarily agree with protestors all the time, but you have to remember: our government was founded on the freedom to protest. Squelching anybody's right to protest is a crime, whether you agree with them or not.
What about the right to a speedy trial, or the right to legal counsel? Those rights are guaranteed in the Bill of Rights, and yet we routinely deny them to people because "they're not on our side." We are not being American when we do this. I do not like the people who we caught on the battlefield, and frankly I'd be happier if we'd have just shot them in battle, but it is our duty to protect their rights like they were our own. Rising above the pettyness is part of being a "bigger" person, and we as a nation often fail that test.
So what is becoming of our civil liberties? The reasoning seems to go like this:
"America! Scary evil men living in caves want to take your freedom away! To prevent that from happening you must give your freedoms to these men in suits! They can't take our freedom away if we give it up first!"
Don't fall for it, folks. Our freedoms set us apart, and we shouldn't give them up for anything. Those who would take your freedoms away to "protect" them are lying, vicious thieves, and we should make every effort to keep them away from us.

Loose his rights for Governments will soon implement the microchip. That I am sure that many have heard of .We truly are not to far from this to come about. For all we need is for the world to get a little worse .and as it dose the Governments will use this as an excuse for ever living being to have an in plant or Governments will not help you unless you have a chip planted on top of your hand. Scary, but it is true .the world is heading down and there is no more stopping it .man started and we are doom. Other countries will use oil to destroy the economy of the US. Remember what the Lords says worry not for what goes on in other countries but worry what is going in your own. It is sad to say but the world is Doomed. There is no hope who can we turn to and stop this from all happening Governments I think not so do you understand now why the world is Doom.
Nope, and never will be...Doom.
