Lyrics:
“Far far, there's this little girl
she was praying for something to happen to her
everyday she writes words and more words
just to speak out the thoughts that keep floating inside
and she's strong when the dreams come cos' they
take her, cover her, they are all over
the reality looks far now, but don't go”(http://www.lyricsmania.com/lyrics/yael_naim_lyrics_41326/yaël_naim_lyrics_73068/far_far_lyrics_718996.html)
How appropriate for this site, don’t you think? This song I downloaded on a whim from iTunes. If you have iTunes you may have noticed a list at the very bottom of the main page of the store that lists “Free on iTunes”. This is where I got this song (no longer there though, sorry) and several others. I recommend trying it out a couple times. You may find some new music you never knew you liked. Plus it’s free.
Back to the song “Far, Far Away”. Yael Naim sings with an innocent longing. It’s a beautiful song about a girl who wishes for more. Your interpretation may be different, but this is the feel I get from the song. The girl Nam is singing about is a dreamer who wishes for something wonderful to come for her to drag her out of her lull. She’s a writer, trying to express what’s going on inside her.
This fictional character sounds like a good addition to this site. The girl wants to express herself and somehow show what she thinks and feels inside. How is this not different from those who are serious about the purpose and goal of good ol’ ProgressiveU?
The song is touching, and you should listen to it once to determine whether you have a similar interpretation.
If you want to listen to this song, here's some options:
YouTube: Far Far (the girl who posted this was advertising a story, but the sound is good on this clip)
On iTunes you can listen to the 30 sec preview.
Unfortunately I haven't found it anywhere else. If an admin or mod knows how to embed a song onto a blog, I'd love to know.

I agree. It's perfect because it's quixotic.
I'm curious--What kind of free podcasts do you skip home to see each day?

Podcasts? I've only recently gotten into the podcast thing. I've got a couple that deal with filmmaking, one is called Atom films. I have a couple ones where I learn Italian, Japanese and Spanish, and then a podcast that deals with Smallville(TV show) news and stuff.
What are you into?

Wowie, those sound entertaining. I'll look into that Atom films-- is it in a "how-to" format?
I've been partial to the Thom Hartmann show on Air America podcast, Treehugger radio, the Bill Moyers show and a groovy Public Radio Int'l Afropop Worldwide podcast.
No doubt I'll find a few more this week. They're so captivating!

"AtomFilms to Go" showcases short films from prospective filmmakers. Some of them are quite entertaining.
I haven't found a great "How to" one just yet. Filmmaker Central is pretty close because it includes interviews with people in the field.
I'll have to check out yours. Treehugger sounds interesting.
Podcasts are very cool. I was thinking of doing a blog about them, then realized it would be a selfish plug for iTunes and I'm not sure I want to become their unofficial spokesperson!

Yeah that made me laugh. Really? You're not iTunes material?
Well, i'll write one if you do. Think of it this way: we're sparking the podcasts and ideas that spring out of them; not iTunes...

I like iTunes, but it didn't really seem right to advertise them.
Hey, if you think you can do a great post about podcasts, go for it. Send me a link, it could be interesting.

I can relate, except everyday "I" pray that nothing more will happen to me. It may not sound very progressive, but with the life I've led so far, being normal would be a very positive progression......
I wouldn't say that's not progressive. You have to progress yourself, don't you? Nah, I don't think you're selfish or anything.

It does sound like a progressive song. It kind of explains what this whole site is about.Ther is nothing better that could really prescribe progresssive. Do you think you could put the song on your blog somehow?
I'll try to find a way. If not, I'll include a link to somewhere where you can listen to it. It really is a great mellow song.
