"WASHINGTON — Immigration will drive the population of the United States sharply upward between now and 2050, and will push whites into a minority, projections by the Pew Research Center showed Monday."

The fact that immigration--mostly illegal immigration--is running rampant in the United States is a problem. I know that this isn't a problem of the United States changing as a whole, because I believe the character of the United States will remain static. However, we need to do something about this immigration problem. Immigration has its pros and cons.
Pros:
*Cheap Labor
*Immigrants are forced to start at the bottom, thus taking jobs potentially no one wants
*No labor laws can be imposed on illegal immigrants
Cons:
*Hurts the economy in numerous ways
*Forcing Americans out of jobs
*Outsourcing now is conveniently located in our own country
*Most illegal immigrants take the money earned in the United States back to their homeland
The fact that the population can change so dramatically because of immigration poses a problem to everyone. With an increasing diverse population, a race war can be imminent. I don't see how a race war is totally unfathomable. I mean, racism is still intertwined in the nation.
What do you think the potential benefits or downsides can arise from this issue?

I feel that America is supposed to be the land of opprotunity where immigrants should be welcomed... it's cliche but whatever. Sadly the immigrants who want to come here for a better life are going to be punished for the immigrants who are here to do illegal things (drugs, sex trafficking).
I agree that there is eventually going to be a race war and it's just going to be fuel for the fire of racisim burning in American society already.

I agree. I live in Miami, and in most schools white's are now the minority. However Miami is considered the melting pot, so I am not sure as to ratio's of races within schools/ workplaces.
I think that is cool because can you imagine living in a place where people of all different kinds of people live closely together? As for the immigration problem, Mike Huckabee's wife summed it up pretty well.
"I am glad I live in a country where people are trying to break in, rather than break out."
I agree that it takes the jobs from Americans. There needs to be an effecient and affective LEGAL process to which we admit immigrants. For the cheap labor, that is indeed a problem we need to fix. We need to find out how to stand on our own two feet without relying others to slave away for us.
There's my two cents,
