New Role for Construction Workers

Tagged:  •    •    •    •

I don't know if other states do this; but in Illinois, construction workers have a new role that if they catch you speeding through a construction zone on an expressway or tollway, they'll notify the state police (I think) and the state police will pull you over to give you a ticket. I don't have any issues with this because I can't drive a car because I don't know how to drive a car because I haven't taken a Driver's Ed class; but this kind of reminds me of a citizen's arrest. Also, I think its nice in a way, because they're helping the state police making people slow down and follow the speed limit.

Where I live, if you violate traffic laws in a construction zone, the fine doubles. That's good incentive to obey laws, is it not?

Yes, I agree because I think that definitely teaches you to not violate traffic laws in a construction zone, especially if you can't afford the fines.

I am okay with that. There have been a lot of construction workers injured and killed because of speeding or reckless drivers in construction zones. They need to do what they need to do to make themselves safer. We( as in those who drive or are being driven) need to do what we need to do to make sure that we make it safer for everyone around us.

Thank God I don't drive yet. I wonder how much more trouble I'll get if I get caught speeding or something. Would that damage my career? lol. I'm so scared of police these days. It's like they can come up and give you a ticket for no reason and you can't resist them or else they'll charge you for another crime. It's ridiculous.
