Because the other girls are doing it.

"Lyle why did you get in trouble at school?"
"Because I was kissing a boy."
"Why were you kissing a boy?"
"Because the other girls were doing it."
"Oh."

This conversation happened between me and my five year old brother three years ago. Against what many told me I should have said, I never told him that what he did was wrong. I just simply told him he shouldn't be kissing people at school.
My brother who is now 8 years old is the most popular boy in his class. He tells me proudly that he has been boyfriend to every girl in the class and had three the most reciently. I laugh and respond with, "That's a lot. Be extra nice and don't hurt their feelings." I remember being young and having mulitple boyfriends.
When I visit from college I often go eat with him at school. There isn't a person in the class who doesn't want to join us. He is nice, funny, has cool stuff, and two cool college sisters who are fun.
He says I love you to his guy friends. And acts super tough. But still wonder if there is a little boy inside who is trapped because of public schools, a super christiant mom (he's my half-brother by the way) who thinks that anyone who isn't straight is a pervert.
I tell him all the time that I am his big sis, not his mom, so he can always tell me anything. I hope that if he is gay or transgender he will tell me when he is old enough to understand. And I will be there for him to tell him that I always suspected and give him a big hug. After all, he's the one with the bisexual sister. If his sisters don't accept him, who will?
