The Threat of Obesity

I read this article in today’s Washington Post about the problem of obesity. I thought the problem of obesity was actually quite funny, people eating themselves to death and what not. But this article pointed out that if too many people are sick and going to the hospital the U.S. could face productivity problems. Imagine 1/3 of work force constantly sick and dying off much earlier than the other 2/3. This is the real problem of obesity in this country. We need these cows to stay alive and work. They cannot cheat the system and die early!

But wait things get worse!!

Most parents are complete failures at raising their kids so of course they will turn to the government for help. This is going to lead to all kinds of extra government regulation and increased acceptance of socialism in America. Not too mention as more people suffer from high blood pressure and diabetes the health care spending will increase. And of course people will turn their attention to the government for socialized health care to reduce their bills and of course the government is always looking to expand and it will jump on the opportunity to control people even more.

It looks grim but I’m sure we will develop very cheap gastric-bypass surgery that will be as common as flu shots. That’s how this problem will be resolved not through people taking care of themselves but of researchers and corporations looking to protect their harvest of labor.

What we should do is gather these fat fucks up a few hundred at a time and air lift them straight to Africa where hunger is a real problem and let’s see how long they stay overweight.

There's this thing some people have...it's called tact...you should think about getting some. Obesity is a serious issue, but you weaken your argument by being insulting. I am personally offended, and I am a lanky hypoglycemic who can't gain weight. I can't imagine how bad a person who is struggling with their weight will feel after reading this.

this article is extremely rude...and I take it very personally.
First of all how can you blame being obese on parental failures when sometimes that isn't the case, nor is that the only reason people turn to the government for help. People may be over weight from diseases that maybe they inherited (but I suppose to you that would be their fault for being born).
Second, it's not just obese people that have some of these problems. And this is where it gets personal. My dad is by no means fat or overweight or anything. But recently we could've lost him b/c of his cholesterol. The average cholesterol is under 200, at 400 they put you on medication. My dad's was 849. The doctor was surprised he hadn't had a heart attack. And he's not fat.
As for your last comment...maybe we should put you there with them and if they get hungry enough maybe they'll eat you...what a terrible loss that would be.
listen to ediblewoman...get some tact...you have no right to say things like that.
