Recently there was a ban on smoking cigarettes in public places where minors are allowed, in Marion county IN, where Indianapolis is (bars, and private clubs are excluded) What a relief!! I know this might not be a popular opinion but I love that they finally passed the new law. As a mom I feel better knowing that someone can't sit next to us at a restuant and breath second hand smoke all over my beautiful, healthy children. My husband and step-daughter are both severely allergic to cigarette smoke. Tobacco smoke gives my husban cluster headaches, which is like having 3-8 migrains at once. It's about time that some one started talking about the right people have to breath clean air over the "right" of smokers to pollute the air.

I really do agree with the concept of smoking bans as long as it doesn't go overboard. Our country was founded on the idea of Liberty: the concept that everyone has the right to do what he wants as long as it doesn't interfere with somebody else's ability to do what he wants.
Therefore, it's Jim's right to smoke if he wants to. It's not his right to smoke in a public place if he's near someone who doesn't want to smell the smoke.
I'm not sure if the ban including only places where minors are allowed is the best idea, but it is certainly a wonderful step towards protecting the health and safety of our children. Being newly 18 myself, however, I'm still very sensitive to smoke (it makes me gag), and I wish that smoking bans could include all public places. Perhaps there could be bars or clubs especially for smokers who are vehement about smoking outside of the privacy of their own homes.
Anyways, congratulations! I hope the ban in your area helps your family. It's really encouraging to see movements like this coming to life.
Congratulations! I also hope that they ban it in other places were I can't smell the smoke, not just kid places. My school should enforce this more. It's messed up when a man walks while he smokes and blow smoke every which way. I hate smoke
Agreed. The smoking ban in my city passed, but then was taken back for "re-evaluation" by the man they needed to sign the bill because they are building new casinos in the city. It's pretty ridiculous.
