I'm a senior in high school and I have been trying to work on scholarships, but it almost seems like there is no point. I talk to teachers and they say that there are a lot of scholarships out there that never get used because people don't apply for them. My school has a site that they put up all the scholarships that they get and they offer on it, and I was looking through it trying to find the ones that I wanted to do, but when I was looking at them and then I looked how many entries there already was, some of them have like pages and pages of entries, like hundreds, how am I supposed to stay motivated for this stuff when I know that the chances of me actually getting the money would be like 1 in a billion. I'm trying anyways, but I have slowly notice my efforts dwendling. For example, the brickfish website, every contest on that website already has a million entries. I have found sites like scholarships.com and fastweb, but I would really appriciate if someone could give some site to go to that have a list of scholarships, or really if anyone has any advise on how to make my entries stand out more it would be much appriciated, really I just need some tips on scholarships.
Not many scholarships and way to many people

I found this website called collegeboard.com, My mother of all people was trying to get me scholarships and she asked a friend where her son went to get a scholarship and she told my mom about this site. Its ok I guess, it has a bunch of odd scholarships as well as the regular types. The woman who told my mom about this site, her son got a scholarship for being left handed no joke!
It seems like I have no right to say that, since I in fact did almost that when I was first going to college. But, here I am again attempting to go for the gold for grad-school. I think the thing that you have to remember most of all is, if you don't try, then you definitely won't get anything! What you're doing is already a good start and just try to stay motivated. I'm pretty certain I missed a lot of opportunities by just giving up and I don't want the same thing to happen to you!!
I recently attempted to get a scholarship to go to school in England. I didn't get it, but I'm glad I tried for it. It was a good experience and you learn a lot about yourself. Don't be afraid to talk to teachers, counselors, anyone who might know something. They're there to help you (and if they're not, then shame on them!)
I have heard about collegeboard.com and I think I went to the website, but that was before I was trying to get scholarships. Thanks for the site and I'm definitely going to take a look at it and see what they are offering. I'm just getting so frustrated lately. I mean, i am a hard worker, but it just seems like a lot of scholarships are even worth it. But, i am going to keep trying. I have been keeping in contact with my counsler and things. I was actually planning on takeing a year off of school and then randomly I just got it in my head to just go right now, so i hurried and applied and took the ACT, all really fast and hear I am, all slowed down by scholarships. *Laughs*
Keep trying!! Don't give up! You can always apply over the summer and also apply next year then you are more likely to get something.
Make yourself stand out. Be creative and daring. Anyone will value someone who is brave enough to differ from the ordinary and risk their application to stand out.

But you also have to be excellent in addition to daring. Edit edit edit! and have friends and family help you. And teachers! Any mistake is a glaring one in scholarship applications.
