I want to ask you a couple questions...
Do you ever wonder where America is heading?
Do you ever wonder what our country will be like in ten or twenty years?
Third and final question...
Do you even care?
I don't know about you but these are a few that haunt my mind on occasion. I stop myself to think sometimes and I ponder over the future of my country. I analyze the threats facing it. Foreign and domestic threats, ranging from nuclear obliviation to the descent of our cities into squallor and ruin.
Let's take a closer look at some of these threats. I can't go over all of them of course but I will touch on some that I think are vitally important.
Threat One on my list...
World War III against other world powers: With tensions rising in our global community, this doesn't seem like a far off prospect. The prospect of this would be drastic but it's not a threat that I really am worried about because this is my philosophy. I believe that shoved in a situation like this, the U.S. would rise to the challenge. Great threats call for great men(and women... =P). That's my philosophy, and I think America's full of potentially great men and women.
Threat Two...
The mixing of philosophies and ideologies detrimental to our way of life culminating in the decline of our culture: This threat, unlike the last one, isn't a real physical threat. It's a psychological, sociological, mental, and moral threat to our current way of life. What I can forsee is the influencing of foreign concepts and mentalities osmisising into our public and bringing about our ruin. Note: not all foreign concepts are bad... just the bad ones! Take for instance the growing socialist mentality. The government is constantly getting bigger and bigger and people are increasingly becoming more comfortable with it. If we could transport the population from the early 1900's to nowadays they'd gasp in horror at all of the social institutions built by the government. Now, some of you may argue about socialism and it's merits but I've got one up on you. I've lived in Russia and Ukraine. I've seen what socialism does to a country. It's not pretty. Unfortunately, people in the U.S. don't see that and with millions of immigrants poring in from socialist Mexico they begin to believe in the things that their forefathers(and mothers... I know that someone out there will be mad if I don't mention them too...) fought against. If we continue in this spiralling decline our country will be just another failed attempt chalked up on the chart of history.
Threat Three...
This is the final one I'm going to talk about in this post...
The Crash of The American Economy: This one is the one I'm least worried about. You might say, "Oh! How could you not be worried about it when you look at what happened in the Great Depression?!" Well, frankly, I say "Let the Second Great Depression hit!" and though you may gasp in horror I'll just ask you to look at the type of people that the Great Depression created. Sure times were hard. Sure many people starved and suffered in countless ways, but just really look at the type of people it produced. When I think about those people, I don't only think of the ones mentioned in history books and eulogies. I think about my grandfather who grew up in that time. He's passed on now but I retain fond memories of him. He had to work hard and had to save every penny he earned. He instilled that work ethic in my father and uncles(they had no daughters...). The Great Depression created poverty at first, yes, but it created more than that. It created people in that poverty who were capable of greatness. It created people who knew how to work hard and diligently. Those are the people that made our country great. We've ridden on their prosperity and hard work for too long and I don't shrink back from the prospect of an economic collapse. I think that it's high time that our generation proves itself capable of returning our country to greatness. I welcome the opportunity...
Well those are just three of the threats that have plagued my mind recently and I hope they're pertinent. I believe they are and I also believe that every responsible citizen should consider them and what they would do in the event that any of them should occur. With best wishes...
