Summer is coming soon. And with college waiting at the end of August I have been faced with the ever pressing question of what to do with summer.
Obviously finding and decent job with lots of hours and good pay is a must. Well I’m pretty sure that I have that under control.
So now I must balance working immense numbers of hours with everything else that I want to get accomplished. I say immense hours but really there are a lot. But they are pretty flexible, and mostly morning hours which leaves me with the rest of the day to do as I please.
Where I work is close enough that ridiculous gas prices will not cut into my pay check at all. My family has a boat hat they store in a marina and no one is ever one it during the week days. So that is where I will be calling home this summer. Our boat is practically across the street from my work so I can walk or ride a bike and it will only take but 5 minutes.
After work I have the choice of many things: work longer = make more. I don’t personally like this option just because it might be the last summer that I don’t have to work long hours. So then beach? I don’t really like sand so I would rather not but yes I probably will at some point. MY younger brother have a new ski boat so I will spend many afternoons and nights wake boarding. But on weekends the lake we live on gets to crowded, making it dangerous to wake board. So then I will spend them at the marina with my family and friends and cruising around downtown. When work permits we may even venture across Lake Michigan or down the coast to Saugatuck or South Haven. Or up to Ludington.
I guess my point is take it while you have it. Just because some of you may be going to college next year or really need the money don’t spend all day every day working. Take a little time off and do something fun that you like to do. Other wise you will work all summer and then go straight into college or another job or whatever it may be and you won’t remember it as a fun summer. It will be the summer you worked to make money for school.
There is plenty of time to work. But you can only be young and reckless once. Take advantage of it and go out and have some fun...if you don’t you might regret it later.
