homosexuality part 1: unknown

I know a lot of people who think that being gay or bi is a choice. I personally don’t know anyone who would choose to be gay. But I’m sure that some people do. But for the most part I think that you are born gay or you aren’t. Plain and simple.

People that say homosexuality is wrong use the argument that it isn’t the way God intended it. But if God didn’t intend it how did it happen? I’m pretty sure that he isn’t one to mess up. So who is to tell me that I’m going to hell because I am gay?

I understand that not everyone is going to agree with it no matter what. And you know what that is fine I understand that completely. I don’t agree with everything everyone else does so not everyone has to agree with what I do.

But then there are the people that are saying that we shouldn’t complain about the rights that we have. But I think we definitely should. Everyone was created equally. So why can’t everyone, regardless or race, gender, sexual orientation, or anything else, be treated equally?

Some people say that women and other minority rights are different than what gays are asking for. Well they are and they aren’t.

Now everyone is allowed to vote gays included.
There are interracial marriages, adoptions, and everything else.
So why is it so hard for people to allow gay marriage?
We aren’t asking for anything that we shouldn’t have. Then people say that we should be happy with civil unions, separate but equal. Yeah right. Didn’t we try that before?

Well, gays have always been allowed to vote...unless there's some sort of incident that I'm not aware of that happened in the past, no one has been restricted the right to choose a leader because of sexual orientation. Thought I'd mention that, as random as it might seem.

In fact, it was only relatively recently that our Supreme Court struck down the laws that in many states treated homosexuality as a felony. And as you may know, felony convictions do in fact result in the legal disenfrinchisment of the right to vote. But more significantly, your comparison misapprends the seriousness of the discrimination that gay people have faced, historically speaking.

Losing the right to vote seems relatively minor to me when compared with long term imprisonment, and even death at the hands of the State. Roughly a dozen countries still impose the death penalty for homosexuality, and more than fifty actually impose significant criminal sentences (ranging between from one year to life imprisionment with hard labor). Even in Western Europe and the United States, which have relatively liberal laws on the subject, gay people face a signficantly higher rate of targeted violence than any other identity-based group.

I was more saying that if they are going to allow us to vote and do most other things than why are somethings still out of reach?

sorry for the mix up
