Its May of my Senior year in High School and the decision needs to be made of where I will be going to college in the Fall.
But wait, why?
Generally a Senior views this moment in their lives as going one of two directions: Go to college, or don't.
Society tells us to go to college. If we do, we will get an amazing education, which will lead to getting good jobs. This in turn will result in making lots of money, getting married, having kids, and becoming yet another servant to Uncle Sam for the rest of our lives because that college education, new car, wedding/honeymoon, etc all cost an arm and a leg and we had to borrow from the governement to pay for it. However, what happened to those that fell through the cracks in societys pathway to happiness? Those that didnt go to college straight out of high school, are they sitting on the side of a highway somewhere begging for food? How about those that dropped out of school, are they living out in the middle of nowhere because society shunned them for dropping out of school? No, they all pursued other alternative paths of happiness.
My point in all of this is: stop. take a moment. think.
Who are you. What do you want in life? Just because society tells you to pursue a college education does not mean that that is what you personally should do. Plently of people did not attend college and are successful. True their was some luck and lots of talent involved in that move, and no i'm not saying that we should protest against college education. I'm am merely stating that this a very important part in our lives. The decision one makes needs to truely be what will be the most benefical for them.
I know that I have personally struggled with this thought for many months now. Tossing around what I want to do or be. Where I want to go, or do I even want to go to college? I was critisized greatly for the fleeting thought I had in regards to not going to college. However I did much in the way of soul searching and although I may have discovered what I want to do with my life, I have yet to be fully satisfied with my decision in way of college. Of where I want to go, or if I even want to wait a semester or two before I go off to college somewhere. I do know however, that whatever decision I make, it will be whats right for me to pursue my own happiness.
The pursuit of MY happiness

Sounds well thought out. I do think people should take a step back sometimes. I also fill parents parents should stop pressuring kids about going to specific schools. It all leads to their needs and not the child.
