IS EDUCATION IMPORTANT, OR JUST SOMETHING ELSE FOR PEOPLE TO DEBATE ABOUT?

Due to history and the changes in Americans historically we, have been lead into a dilemma. Single ethnicity scholarships supported by people and organizations with, the intent of sending the less fortunate students to higher education schools. This service has and will provide millions of dollars towards higher learning as, long as we continue to support it. I support single ethnicity scholarships because they make sense; they are morally correct; and they are accepted and appreciated by those who receive them.
Logically, single ethnicity scholarships make sense based on history and the situations students that apply for these scholarships face. Historically it was slavery of Blacks and Hispanics by European whites. European whites tried to colonize of the African and South American countries. When, they weren’t successful they decided to bring them to the new land they had settled, America. Many don’t know that African-Americans and Hispanics were both enslaved. Little did the European whites now, Americans know that African-Americans and Hispanics would overcome the power of the whites and become free and soon be near the same level as them. They had experience in working all they needed was an education. So, when they went to get their education they found that they were not allowed to be educated in the same schools as whites that was not acceptable. Ethically they believed they should have the same treatment as White Americans. They held rallies and protests which finally led to the integration of schools. Yet, they still weren’t accepted so schools were put in place for the other Americans who couldn’t attend white schools. During civil rights times, students of color couldn’t attend white high schools especially, not colleges. They were forced to create their own community of schools and businesses to support other people of color. They had black/African-American scholarships to those schools because; the majority of African-Americans couldn’t afford even these schools. So, communities would pool their resources and give to a fund to send the students in their community to college. Now after the civil rights movement, Hispanics make up most of the population of America. These students also not given the same opportunities as whites cannot pay for higher level education. So, there are certain foundations for student aid and scholarships to that community. If each community supported their students as African-Americans did then, our communities would be on the same level. Our racial separation would be little to none and perhaps the world of opportunity would expand. Logically, single ethnicity scholarships give the less fortunate; both in money and opportunity more motivation and chances of getting a higher level education to increase their chances for a better job.
Ethically, depending on what you are aware of it is morally correct. From an American view our constitution states, “All men are created equal…” but, unfortunately due to racial ties and racial conflict in the past we are not all treated equally. Due to this issue, people have to support each other within their race, community, or family. Faced with the lack of opportunity we have to find opportunity elsewhere. Examples would be historically black colleges and universities, and scholarship funds. Ethically, the groups and organizations that are providing these students with opportunities that without the organization would not be affordable or possible. In America today a person without a higher level education couldn’t work to support a family or spouse. So, without these opportunities we would subject our future generations to never being able to achieve higher success. The only reason a person could find this not morally correct would be if, they thought that any race or ethnicity was not allowed to start an organization as African- Americans and Hispanics. That is not true any race/ethnicity is capable of funding other students of the common race/ethnicity through scholarship. Ethically, I believe if you need you know you need don’t just take it because, it’s there because with over 150,000 qualified homeless students in just Alief there are plenty who do need the support. Ethically, these organizations provide money for higher level education to those with monetary issues who would not be able to afford education without it, which is morally correct.
Emotionally, racial separation has always been a big emotional issue. Emotionally and ethically, it is not right to give one race in America that is now becoming the minority, all the opportunities. Race/Ethnicity has separated us more and more and become an issue of everyday life. When, you apply for college they have affirmative action, and racial statistics before anything else. Emotionally, it breaks your heart to see that students less fortunate of money and opportunity would have to be punished because; another organization wants to close them if they can’t have one. Emotionally, I feel disgusted that racial opportunities have become a competition between races we are all trying to get to the same place, happiness and you can’t put a price on that.
