Caged Bird

The bird is kept in a cage,
It so desperately wants to fly away.
It’s not fair, it’s not right
Everyone should have the freedom of flight.
 
If it was allowed to fly,
It would soar. Soar as high as the sky
 
She isn’t allowed to do anything,
She wishes there was something she can do,
Should she fight for her right?
Well, she has no clue
 
I want to be free,
I want to get away
Why aren’t I allowed to just be me?
I don’t want to stay
 
This is reality or so to me it seems,
I will get away and chase after my dreams
The imprisonment won’t stop me,
It can only make me stronger for what I need to be.
 
Maybe someday,
Someday faraway,
I’ll get the courage to get,
Me back someday and it will all be O.K.
