In this country political tricks are as old as its founding. Year after year we watch candidates mud sling each other as if it were the salem witch trials. The news and media eats it up like fish being fed too much and we buy into it. I have heard read and seen people cry out against dirty tactics, against cruel words and against this public hating. The problem isn't that the media or the candidates won't stop using it, the problem is that it works. You can ask most and they would say that they dont buy into that garbage but those same people will go home turn on the news and cackle at some new sex scandal. We are all guilty of it, myself included. If we want to change this part of the system then we have to change ourselves. Every time an attack is heard we need to train ourselves to ignore it. We need to look at the candidates for their issues, not for their speech writers. I guarantee you that at a political rally, the candidate got booed for talking poorly of the other candidate they would sing a different tune on the spot. I guarantee you that if the news started getting lower ratings for not covering the news but the same old slander, it would also change on the spot. The answer to our problems here is not out there with them but in ourselves with the choices we make.
