I believe that if a person wants to be able to really understand other peoples opinions, and where their views come from that they must travel to other countries to see different cultures. Going to Canada and Mexico is great, but their is so much else out their, and so much to see that you should hop on a plane and go somewhere. I know that travel is expensive, and that it just wont work with some peoples budgets, but if you can you should.

My travels started young, mainly through the states with my family. We would take vacations all over, we would do and see so much. Seeing new places when I was young captured my attention and I have been doing it ever since. My mom started traveling when she was young, living in Italy and Sri Lanke for a year. She also did a lot of week long vacations through out Europe and America, and spent her summers in Vermont. She instilled these values in me and I have wanted to travel ever since.

I don't want to brag but I do have an impressive travel list of places I have been: Australia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, I ate lunch in Canada, and have done mission work in Mexico. I have also been all over America and seen so much. It is funny, my dad has travled through out the USA, with family vacations, but never been abroad.

I really just believe that people should travel. If you ever get the chance do it. You will never be the same.

I just have not been able to really do it! Once I am done with college I plan on traveling a lot. I did go on a cruise and went hit 11 places between Florida and South America. Not quite the same because you only spend a few hours at each stop, still it was great.

I think one problem that people run into with children is spending all that money if they are not going to remember it. Apparently we traveled a lot around the states when I was young, but I was SO young I do not have a single memory from it. Even taking little kids do Disney Land seems like such a waste of money. I went when I was five and all I remember 25+ years later is that my aunt screamed on some ride. People with children need to find a balance between instilling traveling, going on family vacations and NOT breaking the bank!

I am going to HAVE to travel when I teach. If I am going to teach the children about Japan, shouldn't I go there? Perhaps my first lesson will be on Barbados or Tuscany.

Like St. Augustine said "The world is a book and those who do not travel, only read a page."

I am not even out of high school but I have been lucky enough to have been to a few different countries and even to Europe. Traveling to new places is an amazing experience and it really makes you appreciate other cultures. I was very lucky last summer to have taken a trip to Scotland and England with my soccer team. I fell in love with Scotland and how beautiful it was. Soccer is a huge sport in England and it was amazing to get a chance to play against some of the teams and also to get to know some of the players. Learning and experiencing the culture first hand was very exciting. This experience makes me want to do much more traveling when I get the time.
I have also been to Mexico and Canada, living in New York makes trips to Canada short but fun. I have also been able to travel to a few different states. I love traveling and think it is very beneficial and an eye opening experience.
