So I was listening to the radio this morning, and the topic of sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy comes up. As a young adult, I know that not many of us want to hear anything of the sort. If it exists we don't want to hear about it. We don't want to worry, or feel guilty. But, what I heard this morning just blew my mind. Do you know that many people BELIEVE that drinking a cap full of bleach can prevent you from getting AIDS? I mean come on! First off, doesn't bleach like KILL YOU. Once you swallow the thing it should burn your esophagus. Then if you do manage to swallow it, you'll throw up spreading the chlorine through your bloodstream and also damaging your teeth. WOW!!!
Oh, and another myth is that if you drink Mountain Dew, it'll prevent you from getting pregnant. What the hell does Mountain Dew have in it, a contraceptive syrup? Ok, I just want to say one thing. These people who believe this are ignorant, if not just plain dumb. How about this for size! WEAR PROTECTION!!! or DON'T HAVE SEX!!! If getting pregnant or getting an STD is on your mind and wearing you down, do something that has been proven to work.
I am tired of these home remedies that dumb teenagers and young adults concoct just to avoid the real truth, a real doctor, or a real diagnosis. Some of these people who have consumed the bleach ended up in the hospital! Would you still drink it? I mean what other myths are out there! It is actually kind of sad. I mean some women out there are having sex and drinking Mountain Dew, thinking ok, I don't have to wear a rubber or take my BC pill.
Seriously, if you know any other myths, let me know. I wouldn't believe any of them anyway.

The Mountain Dew thing was probably based off the belief that Mountain Dew is emasculating and lowers male fertility rates.

It doesn't work.
The only way to pass a drug test is to not do drugs, within a certain time period.
When they test for marijuana, they are testing for a certain chemical, which is stored in fat cells. For this reason, you can detect marijuana use in a person for weeks after the last use. Drinking bleach, vinegar, mouthwash, and windex (seriously, who comes up with this shit) is not going to give you a clean test.
Though, I suppose building lean muscle shrinks fat cells quicker than other forms of exercise, so it makes sense in my head to do some weightlifting and drink tons of water if you want any chance at all of coming out clean.

i donno ive never had to pass a drug test..
but there are ways of getting them out of your system..
i know people that are on probation and must pass them and do..
i also know more than one person that druck bleach..
im not advising it.. jus sayin what i heard..

I've heard these myths before, and it's sad, but true, that there are teens who believe them.
I blame the lack of a decent sexual education program in schools.

It's funny that you say that because they discussed that too. Some parents don't believe there should be any sex ed classes because encourages teens and young adults to have sex. But in reality they need to know about it and the consequences. How to protect themselves and so on.

Thanks for the comment on my blog. I was a little shocked, I had only written it about 10 minutes before you commented.
I heard this theory myself on the radio. Not that it is much a theory, but as soon as I heard it, all I did was laugh. It was almost too rediculous, I cant believe that people actually believe that. But than again I guess when I was younger I heard that you couldn't get pregnant while the woman was on her monthly cycle. So its not completely unbelieveable that they believe it. Ha ha ha but its a good laugh!!
