As I am sure many of you have noticed, I have changed my username from "percivale" to "Blackout." Why, you ask? Well...its a long story, and its kind of personal. But suffice to say that a long time ago, in an FidoNet far, far away, I was known to the proto-web as "Blackout." I have recently been waxing nostalgic about my old handle, and after a great deal of personal reflection, I have decided to abandon the e-personality of "percival" and get back (so to speak) to my philosophical (and electronic) roots.
What does this mean for the other members of ProU, you ask? Not much, really. You probably won't notice much of a change. My opinions and areas of interest haven't shifted. My tactics and tone are likely to continue in the same exacting (and sometimes abrasive) manner that many of you have come to love or to hate.
What does this mean for me, however? It means a lot. The "percivale" pseudonym has served me well for many years. I had a deep attachment to its literary symbology, and I felt that the name adequately represented me on many levels to my readers. But, "percivale" was definitely a name that was born in the idealism of a young activist, determined to "fight the good fight" and to "damn the consequences" (if he thought of them at all) of his actions. "Blackout" on the other hand, is of a bit darker character...still dedicated to the "good fight," but more calculating and skeptical (and maybe a bit more pessimistic) about the world around him.
At the risk of reducing my personal alchemy into comic book terms, if "percivale" was my Superman, then "Blackout" would be my Batman. Both of these heroes are dedicated to the cause of Truth and Justice, but they each have their own way of defending those ideals.
So, the bottom line is this: I will always have a place in my heart for "percivale," but he just isn't me anymore. There is light in the world, and that is all well and good. But there is darkness as well, and when the lights go out someone has to be there to stand up for what is right. I intend for "Blackout" to be that someone.
What will YOU do when the lights go out?
Carpe Nocturne!

Huh, I would've started wondering where you'd went if I hadn't seen this post. Now percivale=Blackout. Okay. Must. Remember. Name change.
Carpe Nocturne? Seize the Night? Hmmm, first time I've heard that as a catch phrase.

Blackout has a dark mystery to it. I like. It's almost menacing, but then it's tempered with the silly cartoon eyes in your icon. Nice. I think it fits your superhero mission on the site, too.

Suites you better. It is always good to make changes once in a while.Especially when it is a change you can control. It seems far to often that the journey to find one's self is never ending, and views can change often. Batman is cooler anyway...

Love comments? I do too!
Nice name change. It seems more deeply mysterious. It makes people wonder what your secret is. Good one.

Yes, I've changed my username from "percivale" to "Blackout." Go here if you want to know why.
I must say that since I've been on the site the last few weeks, I didn't get your percivale name. It didn't seem to fit you. Honestly, if I can be brutally honest, percivale sounds too dorky for you. Clark Kent was a bit of a dork. Blackout fits.

Percivale isn't dorky, he was an innocent idealist who strove for the ultimate good (in his time the Holy Grail). I can understand the need for the name change though, I always saw Percival as a very young spirit, and in this day and age it seems nearly impossible to maintain the idealism and innocence of his character for long.
