I go to a school that is 85% white, 15% minorities. Of that 15%, 11% of the students are black. As a student that takes Honors and AP classes, I'm usually the only African American. Because of this, I experience racism from both black, and white students. The other day in AP Chemistry, a boy told me that I wasn't that smart "because I was black." I couldn't believe that he had the audacity to say that to me, because I am first of all, in AP Chemistry, and second of all, the youngest student in the class. He had no right to say that to me. It is always awkward in history class whenever we talk about slavery, or of course the newest topic, Obama for president. Whenever we talk about subjects like this, I can always feel the whole class staring at me. They automatically assume that all of my ancestors were slaves, (which isn't true because I am 25% Scottish, and 25% Indian), and they look at me like I should be able to give insight on the topic. Which I can't. BECAUSE I'M NOT A SLAVE. and I shouldn't be judged on my skin color. On top of feeling awkward in my classes, I experience the same thing from the black students. Since I am in advanced classes, and I use correct grammar, I am often called "white" or an "oreo cookie". I wear brands such as Juicy Couture, and American Eagle, not Baby Phat and Apple Bottoms like many African Americans do. Because of this, I am also called the "rich girl". I don't condone the use of the word "nigga" no matter what race the person is. It is a derogatory term, I don't think that it should be used. I am judged for hanging out with white girls, and talking to white boys. I'm judged for my vernacular, my dress, my everything.
One day, I hope that African Americans won't be judged for sounding like they are educated, for trying in school, for dressing the way they want to dress, for being in interracial relationships, for being who they are.

I can't believe someone said you must be stupid because you're black. Ouch. That really hurts. People just suck, I guess.
You presented this well, and I think the part you added in about your experience as an honor students helps the blog out a lot. Usually racism rants are usually....well, rants.
I haven't met you, I don't know what you look like, and I haven't heard your voice, but your writing suggests you're an intelligent student.
And "nigga" is something I've never understood and never will.

Congratulations to you and take some pride in yourself. I bet you are headed for high places!
I am not in your shoes but for me the most insulting thing would be the assumptions that necessarily go along with Affirmative Action.
As you earn your way into good colleges and even worse as you move upwards in your career you are always going to have ot contend with those who look at your skin color and wonder if you were promoted because you earned it or because of Affirmative Action. This is going to be extremely unfair but it is nevertheless going to be a reality that you will probably always have to deal with.
Refuse to be a victim! Continue to use your talents and your hard work to excell and you can always hold your head high.
I know exactly where u r coming from. The same thing happens to me everyday. My school isn't predominantly black or white, we have a good ixture of both. I hang around everyone-black, white, asian, it doesn't matter to me. I also take AP classes where a majority of the class is white. I get from my "black" friend all the time how need to "get back to my roots" or "hang out w/ the ghetto people" I've lived in the "ghetto" and it's not a place I would willingly live in. Been there done that and because of that I want a better life for myself and my kids. Trust me, I know where ur coming from, but stay true to who u r, don't change 4 any1 b/c all those people that are talking about u now won't get anywhere in life; u stand out, ur different-embrace that, cuz I know I do.
