Living Greener

I am a big fan of reality TV shows, including the show “Flip That House” on TLC. For those of you who are unfamiliar, the show is about a person, couple, or group of people who buy well-lived in to rundown homes, renovate them, and then sell them for profit. About a month or so ago, I watched this couple flip a house to make it more environmentally friendly. Granted, they did not make the profit that they could have made if they had thrown their environmental conscience out the window, but they felt the reward of supporting a greener earth. I am not a tree hugger, but this got me thinking…. Why can’t more people think and take action like these people? For the most part, they did not do anything more to the house then any other couple would need to do in this show. I mean they did the basic renovations while making the house pretty. The only difference between this couple and the people before and after them was that they made a conscience effort to buy more efficient and green appliances. I hope that it inspired others to invest in more efficient, greener appliances. A healthier earth is a reality I’d like to see every day.

Here is a link to an interview with the couple referenced in this blog: http://www.greenthinkers.org/blog/2007/06/interview_with_veronica_montel...

agreed. Definitely! I do think homes are a necessity to life, but at the same time we have to keep a balance. You know? One day I truly believe that most animals will become extinct. You know why? Because their homes are disappearing. They have no where to go.
This is completely off topic from what you were talking about, but I don't understand why we kill these animals just because they attack one of our own. We're the ones taking over their home, not the other way around. Animals have instincts and I don't believe we should kill the animal just because he or she acts on it. They can't help it. If someone is going to live close to the wild life, then they should take extra precautions. It's they're own fault that they put themselves into that situation!
Back on topic now-I think that way too much green is disappearing! I can honestly say I could never live in a city or state where there is hardly any green. I live in OR, so I see a lot of green, but when I go visit family in Cali. it sucks!!! Without green, it's just so dry feeling, and I do not like it one bit!

I don't mean when I say that we shouldn't kill the animal that acts on their instincts, that we shouldn't defend ourselves or our family. I just don't want you to get the wrong idea on that. I just mean, after the act happens and you weren't there to defend your herd, or something like that, then why go after the animal. He was just merely surviving the only way that they know how.
