Everybody seems to be talking about progressing, or one ethical issue or another? Where does it start and where does it stop?
It seems everything you try to do these goes against someone's morals or ethics. Stem cell research, have we not had thousands of discussions about that. Why cant we except the fact that there will be postive outcomes from this field.
Racism/Discrimination. It has been here since the beginning of the world. The only reason we notice it more is because everybody is now talking about it. Get over it, it will be here for the rest of your lives. Instead of talking try to see if you have ever discriminated, and ask yourself why? Was that the right thing for you to do? If you understand the concept than we will be one step closer to diminishing racism/discrimination of any sort.
Abortion. It is a women's body, let her have the choice of deciding what she wants to do. So she has made a mistake; why should the child suffer because of a mistake the mother has made? Since when do we get to vote on an issue that is very intimate for a person. We do not know the situation that many of these womens have gone through. Who are we to say it is wrong or right?
Terrorism. I say lets brainwash everybody with the Barney song. That seems to be the only possible way, or we can recycle all weapons; which will never happen, so lets brain wash everyone.
World hunger. I am sick of just talking about these topics. Just talking about it gets us nowhere. We are right where we started; yes, we now know what a lot of other people think, but that gets us nowhere. Go out and do something. There are thouands of charities out there that truly help the needy; find them. Be very careful of who you are donating to, because not everybody cares about the good of others.
Smile. A smile goes a long way. It can make or break somebody's day. So next time when you are in public, make sure you give off that warm vibe. No one needs a grumpy person to ruin their day.
Laugh. Its an universal medicine.

I actually just made a post about this. Progress doesn't stop. We can have goals and indicators and success, but progress continues. Step by step, as long as society exists so too does the possibility for progress exist. I dream of a world where progress won't be necessary, but that I feel is a long way off. Thank you for writing that just talking, or rather writing, about topics will get nothing done. It may raiase awareness, but there still needs to be action!
