Six years later.

I remember the day the Twin Towers fell, I was in second period, Social Studies in the 7th grade with my favourite teacher in the world, Ms. Bennett. We were in the middle of taking notes and an eighth grader rushes in the room and shouts, "TURN ON CNN!!! THE TWIN TOWERS JUST GOT HIT BY AN AIRPLANE!!!"  Me, and half my class, had no idea what the hell the "Twin Towers" were.  So Ms. Bennett turned on the television, and I  see that they are located in New York.  My heart immediatly starts to go into a panic, as I have a stepdad who works in the city, and his whole family who lives near there. 

I sit in awe, as we have a moment of silence through-out Sells Middle School, and around 9:45am, my mom arrived at the school, her eyes red from crying all morning, and she says, "Deisha, I'm taking you home.  We're waiting on your brother to get his stuff."  As we drive home, I ask my mom if she's heard from my stepdad or any of our family/friends from New York and she just sits there and says, "No, sweetie, but it'll be okay, no matter what happeneds."

My brother and I sat with our faces glued to the TV and a phone glued in our hands.  My mom couldn't get through to my stepdad, or any of the family. At about 2:30 in the afternoon, my mom finally received a phone call from my stepdads sister, saying everyone was okay, but my stepdad's best friend got taken by the collapse of the building. 

I had no idea who Osama bin Laden was, nor any idea what Patriotism was either, until after the fall of the Twin Towers.  Now Osama bin Laden has the United States as his laughing stock, taunting our "brilliant" president, saying, "you still haven't caught me, yet."

Maybe someday Osama will get his.  And the video he just sent us, I'm pretty convinced that it's not him.
