So being a militray brat the Iraq War really hits home! But i dont support it what so ever, I gladly support ours troops, my dad was in the air force for twenty seven years, my step dad is currently in the army and has serveed two tours in Iraq and my fiance is at basic training to become a cop in the air force so im all for supporting the troops. But as i was listening to a song yesterday some lines really caught my attention!

Lines such as " Im tired of being treated like i have before like im stupid standing for what im standing for, like this war is just a different brand of war like it doesnt catter the rich and abandon the poor... asking you to have some compassion and to have some repsect for a leader nervous is an obvious way studdering mumbling for the nightly news to replay." -linkin park: hands held high

Its statements like that, that truly shed light on the position that our leader has put us in. The innocent people soildiers, who by the way dont make as much money as many think. they barely have enough to live some can live comfortably if they get stationed in a place that doesnt have a high cost of living. But many who get stationed in areas such as california, new york, new jeresy, or any place that has a big tourist attraction barely get by. So personally i do believe that this war has done nothing but put our country in debt, and cause the lose of innocent soldiers just doing their job because our leader has a thought of finishing daddys job, and cleaning up the mess! How ever he doesnt realize that the mess has only gotten larger. Sure i understand that Iraq had threatened us with nuclear war, but when investigated the bombs were never found. I know this because there were many a morning when my real dad would be a work and answer the phone good morning mr. president how is your morning going. My dad flew predator air craft over many areas where the cause for this war was "hidden". My dad told me we lit those places up searched in places that we wouldnt dare send our soldiers into and found nothing even with the sensors and technology of the planes robots and computers they would send in.

So is this war really a war againest terrorism, or just a way to try to clean up a mess? I think the mess one, because our war on terrorism has nothing to do with Iraq, its terrorists we want to fight, so why has this war gone from being called the war on terror to the iraq war? And why has a war that was supposed to last "two years at the longest" turned into seven. And why has "were going to start pulling out troops soon." Turned into "all troops will experience an extention on their stay from tweleve months to fifteen months."

Not only that but were only really making the al quida even more mad by being over there, obvioulsy we have picked a fight with a group of people that have no thought of backing down anytime soon. And have no shame in killing little children, women, or themselves to accomplish that. The only way in which i support this war is because the little ten year old kids dont deserve to die. And the other children shouldnt have to live a life with no mom, so when is this war ever going to end... no time soon i know that... and were going to have permamnent bases over there like we have in korea and europe. This might sound selfish but i personally dont think that Iraq is where we need to be! We have plenty of problems at home, and if the people of that country cant control their own government, its thier problem, get out, leave if you dont like it. If you decide to stay there thats your own stupidity. Not the United States' problem!

This was a great post. It is good to read the perspective of someone who has a deep investment in what's going on over there. I too hate the war, but support the individual soldiers who have no choice but to follow orders.

What makes me most angry is that the government isn't doing everything it can for the returning soldiers.

I agree with what you have written.

See my article, 'If you kill 3,970 people, is that considered murder?'
