The Sen. From Michigan said on Cspan today that Iraq is having or is going to have a civil war. The Sunnis think that it is their right to rule over the Hummus. The sen. said that we cannot save them from themselves. This war is now pointless. We should withdraw in 120 days. Darwin’s war is over. They have gotten rid of there best men in this fight. We have bombed their caves and started training a police force. We are not going to cut and run, apparently that is not the point of leaving mostly in 120 days. We are just cutting our losses. Maybe to progress in Iraq they need to have their civil war.
I’m going on Vacation to Chicago so I won’t be writing again this week. More vacation pics and Maybe I’ll have a look at the trash where I’m going

Saying that we have bombed their caves is probably one of the most egregious comments I have heard on progressive u. For progress in Iraq, there needs to be a stable ethnocracy. Hopes for a stable democracy have diminished mainly because Nouri al-Maliki's government does not want to reconcile with the Sunnis. This has led to a nascent Sunni insurgency in the past few years. The reconstruction process needs to be started before we leave. The Bush administration has only been focusing on the military aspects of this war and not the political and economic aspects. The chances of the reconstruction process beginning before we leave are slim; however, there is a better chance of the reconstruction process starting if we are still in Iraq.
We as a country need to stop trying to save all these countries. One reason we entered Iraq was to destroy the WMD's. Did we find any? NO. I agree with _sunny, pull out, let them deal with it and if they can't oh well. They have been doing this for thousands of years.
Agreed...some people say "with power comes responsibility," but what about what our own country needs? They have been doing this for thousands of years, so why did we decide to jump in now? Yeah, our country needs to defend itself, but can't we do that without intruding where we don't belong? But the thing is, now that we've entered, if we pull out now, there is a greater chance that they will come here because now we're involved. So what now? After destroying thousands of civilian lives and having our own men killed, are we supposed to just pick up and leave and figure that everything will be fine? We've gotten ourselves into a real mess.
I agree. We need to get out of there. Nothing is productive is going to happen anytime soon. Our soldiers are just living, breathing targets. The Iraqis don't care about democracy, it seems, and democracy can't be successful if hardly anyone cares. I say just cut the losses and get out, period. We aren't helping anything except delaying the inevitable.. which will be no democracy in Iraq and most likely civil war.
Thing is if we pull out and let them have their civil war- Do we go back when its over?
