Have you ever felt that someone/something was staring at you and watching your every move when you're alone? What about "cold spots" and "hot spots"? Do you ever feel like there's an uncanny presence with you that you cannot explain?
Well, this has been happening to me more often than not. I think it is because of my changed perspective that people send out energies - good/light or bad/dark - sometimes consciously and unconsciously. I'm sure that some people "remember" their past lives and sometimes cannot deal with their own life problems and manifest them in negative forms, such as "dark entities" or "shadows". At any rate, such people need some kind of outlet to vent their frustrations and much relief from stress. The significant amount of "negativity" in reality can come from just about anyone - from tensions and pressures to do sometimes the "impossible" when it comes to school and work to emotional trauma and anxieties from abuse. It is no wonder that the "ghosts" that people experience are more obvious and forthright, especially considering the gruesome death they had experienced, or perhaps the "negativity" rought when they were alive.
Also, perspective-wise, I have come to recognize the negatives/positives in the world around us. This is not a new idea, but has been recognized in the philosophy of Taoism. The infamous Yin-Yang theory proposes that reality cannot exist without the opposites - good/bad, positive/negative, masculine/feminine, etc. - and can correlate to the various everyday experiences of all humans. There is also a potentiality for people to become amidst and "turn to the dark side", or rejuvenate and find true en"light"enment, whether the person is dead or alive. Coupled with the Buddhist belief of the afterlife - or Heaven/Hell, if you will - it seems as though with the fluctuations and energies of both sides creates reality. If you've heard of the Judeo-Christian (and Islamic) version of the world manifesting through the work of angels, then it is somewhat similar to the Buddhist Heaven/Hell. However, one would consider him-/her-self in Heaven when in a positive state of being, while those who find themselves in Hell exist in a negative state of being.
Anyway, for now, this is my perspective and more/less the explanation of why I constantly "see ghosts" and why they don't easily go away. I have thought of doing possible cleansing rituals, but in hindsight, it is basically, kicking a dead person out of your house, or telling him/her/it to "get to stepping". Either way, I have considered that perhaps doing the right thing and trying to help the "troubled dead" out would suffice. So, far it has left me uneasy? I don't talk to them; I just send out that positive/productive/concerned energy out there (via prayers/meditation/visualizations). However, those who are distraught, criminal, and violent have not responded well at all. In the long run, perhaps situating oneself to resolutions to problems in life, without fear and mostly with strength of character would, would have "mended" such souls, prior to their death. On the other hand, if Taoism refers to the perhaps slow consistency of switching from good to evil, and vice versa, then the path of the soul and a person's demeanor may leave him/her to learn life's/death's lessons. "There is a time and a place for everything." (So they say....)
What are you're thoughts on this subject and this perspective?

I believe it's certainly possible to create your own ghosts, but I don't doubt there are ghosts that just like to hang around, regardless of you. I would not recommend trying to tango with the "troubled dead", as you say--leave that to the professionals.
For me, the best thing is a step higher than the good/bad duality. Taoism is more of a "light/dark" and "positive/negative", though dark and negative are not inherently "bad"--just natural. The way I look at it is that they're both just two aspects of the same thing. What's this one thing called? I don't know--we don't have a word for it.
Of course, the question is always: What happens when we finally transcend duality completely? Who knows?
(I feel like this is an incomplete comment and misses a some of your points. Let me know if there's something I missed.)
