In the post- Michael Jordan era

So in the post-Michael Jordan era, everyone thought the Bulls were stank. Oh, and they were. But, can't you see that was all a ploy to get where they currently are? I mean we grab Elton Brand in the '99 draft with the first pick. Then we keep him for two years and trade him to the Clippers for the 4th pick (C/PF Tyson Chandler) while also picking up Eddy Curry with our own 2nd pick. Then we grab Kirk Hinrich, the brilliant playmaker from Kansas, with the 8th pick in the 2003 draft. And in a draft day eal with the Phoenix Suns, we acquire Luol Deng and following, Andres Nocioni in the second round. We grab Ben Gordon, the scintillating scorer from UConn, with the 3rd pick in the 2005 draft. And we trade Eddy Curry for Michael Sweetney, the garbage that is Tim Thomas and 2 AMAZING First Round draft picks in 2006 and 2007.

Back in the Jordan era, the starting line up (with the best backups) looked something like:
PG-Ron Harper
SG-Michael Jordan
SF-Scottie Pippen
PF-Dennis Rodman
C-Luc Longley
First Sub(SF/PF)-Toni Kukoc
Second Sub(PG/SG)-Steve Kerr
Third Sub(C)-Bill Wennington

Now, we're throwing (essentially):
PG-Kirk Hinrich
SG-Ben Gordon
SF-Andres Nocioni
PF-Michael Sweetney
C-Tyson Chandler
First Sub(SF/PF)-Luol Deng
Second Sub(PG)-Chris Duhon
Third Sub(PF/C)-Othella Harrington

And with this lineup, we pushed the Heat to an unpredicted 6 game series. We pushed Shaq, D-Wade, 'Toine, Posey and Payton to 6 games. They couldn't match our offensive speed and our stifling guard defense. If only we had an ACTUAL center, the series would have been over in 5.

Now, look what's happening. This summer KG comes on the trade market, so does Bonzi Wells. We dont' need Bonzi but we could try making an offering for KG. But that would mean dumping Deng and at least a First Round pick. That's fine by me, but why not wait until '07 when Lebron, Ben Wallace, Duncan and Amare come onto the scene. We already have the most cap space and all we need is one inside player.

The Bulls are a perfect cross between the running Suns and the Spurs' perimeter defense. The series showed that while D-Wade and Payton couldn't seem to go north-south against Hinrich and Duhon, Gordon and Hinrich could easily come off the screen at a 100 miles and hour and accelerate into the layup.

Good times are ahead. Chi-town, baby.

Heh yes agreed. Also, another thing that bothers me is they are trying to compare these newcomers to Jordan. Guess what you can't, Jordan was the best offensive and defensive player when he wanted to be. Lebron and Kobe aren't as good as jordan offensively yes they might look better on paper but kobe and lebron are the only ones on their team that can score consistently night after night so of course they can throw up 100 shots. Next the defense in the N.B.A well I don't know if half them in the N.B.A know what defense is. Nobody helps pick up the man that got by or anything. Wanna debate further? post up I'll make you look silly.

I don't see how your comment pertains in any sense to my post. I was solely discussing the progress and hopes of the Bulls. But, if you want me to make an argument for Lebron and Kobe, I'll gladly do it with however much analysis and support you desire.

Go for it... I know the idea is to get a lot of reads and comments for your posts. I along with most people who watch basketball seem to agree that these kids arent as good as jordan.

Um, that's not the idea. I'm actually passionately interested in sports. For the record, I will agree that these 'kids' are not even close to Jordan's level.

you said ud put an arugement up for lebron and kobe... anyways lebron gets too many calls for him anyways. They are doomed next round though washington is a joke. Bulls will own either next year or the year after.

I'm finishing up the Lebron and Kobe argument. And I DO agree that Lebron gets too many calls for him. That's exactly the way Michael Jordan had it back in the day. See, I'm the greatest Bulls Fan this city's seen, but I understand the players. Jodan definitely had the refs the way Lebron, Kobe and D-Wade have them now. Similarly, Shaq had the refs in the late 90s in a way Yao Ming will never have.

Also, I agree with you about the Cavs. I think, had the Wizards upped, they could've actually beaten the Heat. Who's going to stop Antawn, Gilbert and Caron. But the opposition merely ask, "Who's going to stop the Big Fella?"

Lastly, the Bulls are going to come back with a vengeance next year. The only thing I'm scared about is that we might legitimately consider unloading Ben Gordon to acquire Kevin Garnett which would be very foolish. I mean, if Tyson Chandler (decent defender) is not doing anything against Shaq, what makes anyone think that KG (only 15 lbs) heavier can do anything to slow him down?

Heh jordan did get some calls yeah they have to attract the fans but Lebron just gets too many did you see the block in the 4th they called? Friggin lebron pushed off the guy who was already in a defensive position... I mean he gets like 5 or 6 of these horrible freebies in a game and then most any close call goes his way. It's retarded. Sports talent has gone down wayy to much I still love sports I just don't respect them anymore. The N.B.A does not play defense anymore. Shaq blows him and lebron are the 2 people I hate most in the N.B.A and I hate carmello anthony. Lebron isn't bad I just don't like him because of how he thinks he can compare to jordan and people think so to... it's not even close. Shaq is probably the least skilled player in the league. If I outweighed pretty much anybody who guarded me by 10 metric tons then yea I think I might be able to impose my will. Also, his shooting % outside of the 2 foot range is like 3%... come on I got a 7 year old cousin who shoots better than that.

I can't believe you called Tim Thomas garbage!! He's been killing the Lakers in their series! I really can't imagine KG in a Bulls uniform, and there is no way that either LeBron, Ben Wallace or T. Duncan would ever end up in Chicago ... they're literally the faces of their respective franchises.

The problem is that every player wants more money or rings. Look to Malone's leaving the Jazz. Emmitt Smith's leaving the Cardinals. HAKEEM "THE DREAM" left Houston for Toronto of all places for money. Had he stayed he would have had school, streets and holidays named after him.

It's the truth.
