Clean your plate!

How many of us have heard that from our parents?  I know that my father used to make me sit at the table and eat until I ate everything on my plate.  I was told to be very careful about how much food I got, because I was going to eat it all!  I just read an article on yahoo that made me laugh.  This lady in Ohio, her boyfriend, and her two children were kicked out of a chinese buffet restaurant because they left too much food on their plates.  Supposedly the management had been watching the family on previous trips and had noticed that the children left alot of food on the plates.  I just thought that this was hilarious.  I mean, it's an all-you-can-eat buffet.  And children have a tendency of doing that, getting alot of food and then just throwing it away.  I've never heard of a restaurant BANNING someone because of this.  Of course, I think that buffets are bad anyway because they force you to overeat on usually very unhealthy food anyway.  But I just thought I would share this with everyone.  I got my laugh for the day.

WOw....that is funny. My parents used to always tell me to eat all my food because there are people who don't have any to eat.

I think that is a funny story and when I was little my mother would make me eat all of my food of of my dinner plate and I was not allowed to get up until I ate it all.

I think finishing the plate encourages overeating. Most people only feed their children 3 meals a day, when in reality 6-8 small meals is best. A human stomach is technically supposed to be about the size of your fist, and one meal should be about this size. I know mine aren't, but for a child it is very hard for them to eat enough to last until the next meal when only 3 meals are being served.

We should really be eating every 2-3 hours, in MUCH smaller quantities! I do this with the boys at work, and it drives me nuts when their grandma comes to town and goes to great lengths to bribe and cajole them into eating the huge heaps of food she puts on their plates. They just cant' and won't do it, but she tries. Interestingly, though, they will eat as much mac and cheese as you put in front of them... is there some addictive quality to mac and cheese?
