I'm fairly new to the idea of blogging so I hope everyone bears with me. What I'd like to talk about is Education. After being out of school for almost 30 years I recently retured to College and, luckily for me, I am loving it. The work is hard at times, its time consuming, but its also fun. I've been enjoying working with other students, learning new things and just being in that atmosphere.
You are probably wondering why a 50 something year old woman would go back to college after all this time. Well, I did it for me. Going back to college is something I have wanted to do and I finally had the opportunity to do so. Its not so much that I am looking for a new career though what I'm learning is aimed in that direction, its for the pure joy of being able to say see? I went back and I did it. I graduated college!. That won't be for a couple of years yet of course but just the feeling of knowing that I will be able to do that in the future right now has me on a very good high.
I do admit though that I wish I had returned to college a lot sooner. That I had gotten a degree early in life and done more with my life then I have. As they say hindsight is 20-20. Looking back you always know what you should have done. Instead though, I'm rather hoping that anyone that reads this will think maybe I should now. And if you are? do it. Go to college, do what it is you are wanting to do with your life, don't wait till its almost over to think, well its too late now but I should have.

never too late to go to college, or even back to college. my mom already had a degree, but went back to get something else, because a teacher of mine had made her angry, so she went back to school to do something about it. i read an article one time about a woman who went back to school and graduated when she was about 80 something years old. she died shortly after, but she achieved her goal of having a degree. all i have to say is you have a degree, so make the most of it of whatever you have left in life. die happy because you made a difference.

COLLEGE WELCOMES EVERYONE, NOT JUST THE "AFTER HIGH-SCHOOLERS". IN ORDER TO KEEP UR BLOOD FLOWIN, U NEED TO KEEP UR MIND FOCUSED ON SOMETHING. LIFE IS CONFUSING AND HAS SO MANY DIRECTIONS. I SAY DO WHAT MAKES U HAPPY HOPEFULLY ITS ON THE POSITIVE SIDE :)! AND UR LIFE WILL BE MORE PLEASURABLE. MY AUNT DID A YEAR AGO OCTOBER OF CANCER. SHE RECIEVED HER MASTERS DEGREE IN NURSING RIGHT BEFORE SHE PASSED. SHE WAS 48. SHE HAS INSPIRED ME TO FINISH SCHOOL, BETTER YET ACHIEVING MY GOALS. BESIDES I LIKE DIVERSE CLASSES U HEAR DIFFERENT OPINIONS AND VIEWS. GOOD LUCK!!!
I am a nontraditional student as well, being 25 in a world of 18-21 year olds has opened my eyes to many things. Good for you for passing the encouraging words! I will graduate in December of 2007 and plan on becoming a professor.
