I know this one will raise alot of eyebrows and I'll probably get some seriously negative feedback; but I'll say it aynways. There should be a class in school teaching students about guns! Guns have been given such a negative meaning when they really are not bad. One of my favorite quotes is, "Guns don't kill people, people kill people." There was a time when students did bring there guns to school; yes it was a long time ago but I think they should bring it back. They would bring their rifles to do demonstrations and such. In fact one of my friend's dad was telling be about his grandfather taking a muzzleloader into school for a demonstration and someone accidentally double loaded it. When he fired it in the air it blew out a light. You would think that he would've gotten in serious trouble and never be able to bring his rifle back to school. Thats not what happened! The principle laughed and said, just be more careful next time.
Learning the responsiblity of owning and handling a gun is something that our culture has lost touch with. Now when they hear about guns it usually has to do with some rapper or gang member trying to make himself look tough. Thats not what guns are for. Guns are for protection, and for hunting and for sport target practicing. I wish we could go back to the good ol' days but I fear they are long gone...

maybe classes should be taught and be compulsory but not in school...OUTSIDE of school, students should go learn somewhere
IN school, that's just too risky,----so I have to say, you have the right idea that we need to educate every one of us about gun safety and everything BUT not in school, that''s just too much risk/trouble/involvement/it's like i can imagine so many things that could go wrong with teaching it in school with actual ones
PS.. how stereotypical is it to say that about rappers...serisously though EVERY rapper does not have involvement with guns/shootings so, i hope you weren't generalizing..

I'm always a fan of firearms education (looking at my blog should make that obvious)
That said, I don't want public education in charge of gun safety. I'm not wholly convinced that they do a bang-up job in most other subjects. I'd rather leave gun safety education to the professionals.
Now, I DO wish that they would stop the NEGATIVE education on firearms. Spreading lies and false ideas (whether knowingly or just a case of the ignorant leading the blind).
Gun Ranges and Gun Shops often have safety education courses and I always recommend that people go to them.
I'd just like to see people learning the truth about firearms, rather than the irrational things they are taught about firearms...
yeah i dont think its really smart to talk about guns in school
