The Unfortunate Secondary Primary

The Election:

I was wondering while I was looking at the news this morning, who will really be electing the president of the United States? Will it be us? Will it be the super delegates? Then I had a thought: no it won’t be either of those entities. It will be the media. People think that they will be casting a vote for THEIR best choice, but they will only be voting for who the media decided was the best. This whole Hillary, Barack, John political love-hate triangle is completely driven by the media. If left up to our own devices, we might actually just listen to the candidates and choose but instead we watch the news and go from Hillary being a great candidate who will break barriers for women in this country to Hillary being too stoic and depending too much on Bill. Then Obama goes from inexperienced senator to messiah then to follower of a racist preacher. John McCain is kinda sitting stage-left, not getting much attention since he secured his place in the republican party but just give it some time, because once the democratic candidate is chosen they’ll start back in on him. They are already addressing the fact that he’s like 77 (which is actually kind of a good point).

So what do we really think of these candidates? Can our views of them be changed willy-nilly over a cup of coffee and 30 min. of news? I think we should think about...wait...no that’s it. I think we should think! Nuff said.
