Funeral Cost of the Future: No Vault, No Casket, No Embalming
"In the near future you will not need to have a casket, vault or embalming.."
Two 'green' cemeteries in the state of Maine reject embalming, expensive caskets and vaults....these cemeteries are recently created.
Rainbow’s End in Orrington, Maine is one of two recently developed "green cemeteries" in Maine and a few in the United States of America.
A small but growing number of United States citizens are beginning to rethink the modern approach to death and dying.
Believers in "green" funerals and burials are willing to let nature take over with a body rather than delay the inevitable through chemicals, steel caskets and cement cemetery vaults.
They are choosing to do "dust to dust naturally" in places that look more like fields and state parks than manicured lawns and memorial gardens.
This is the concept of a simple burial and signals a 21st century return to pre civil war burials.
In most green cemeteries around the world bodies must be buried in plain wooden- wicker caskets, shrouds or other biodegradable options.
For some, it’s just about money. For others it is about eco friendly.Green Funerals and burials can cost thousands less than a conventional funeral , which can run as high as $10,000-$15,000 with burial.
Green funeral s also creatively eliminate expensive preneed contracts.
All this has been apart of Jewish and Islamic Traditions for many years,
With the return to green funerals comes also a return to home funerals and families caring for the dead.
