Couple Stories showing our Sad State of Affairs

No single topic today, but a couple stories that, rather than making into two short blogs, I'll make into one longer one.

First, mowing lawns. It is a responsible thing to do, but what happens if you choose not to? Well, in Canton OH, it could land you in jail.

Big Government fans, of course, will celebrate. "That's right!  Make them mow, or put them in jail!  I'm tired of looking at their unmowed lawn!"  . . . in fact, the local government is so overinvolved in regulating daily life in Canton OH that apparently if you refuse to mow your lawn, they charge you 150 bucks and then mow it for you, spending $225,000 to $250,000 dollars on cutting 'overgrown lots' ..  Please explain why it is the job of the government to mow the lawn on YOUR property?  It is your property, right?  Do you understand property rights? (I only ask because Canton OH obviously does not.)

Get off my land.  If I want my grass to be 3 Feet high, so be it.  It is, after all, MY land.

So, in short...  if you do not mow your lawn, you'll spend more time in jail than a drunk who gets in an auto accident.  Those evil property owners!

Shifting gears....

Youtube, owned by those wonderful Google guys (the ones that want access to your medical records), refused a request from Senator Lieberman to remove videos from terrorist groups.  While they did agree to remove videos that 'contained hate speech, gratuitous violence or in other ways violated community standards." . ..  they refused to block the accounts or remove other videos from these known terrorist organizations.

These videos are from known islamic terrorist groups and serve to recruit and train terrorists in our own country.  Apparently that is the kind of "Community Standard" that Google appreciates.

Your grass rant reminded me... My grandparents used to have this field that was once part of the pasture and it had this insanely tall grass when I was growing up. I freaking loved playing there. We pretended it was our own jungle and had a blast for hours at a time. I miss that field. Every kid should have insanely overgrown grass at least once in their lives.

An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. It's being able to differentiate between what you do know and what you don't- A. France
