So, I went to check my yahoo account and I always end up glancing at the news on the front page. I love it because it's never the same old news thats on CNN or the NYTimes. See, they seem to recycle the news in all the other sources, so you read it like 3 times in one day. But, nope, Yahoo gives you something different.
Well, the topic of late has been science for some reason, maybe science hasn't been getting enough attention, who really knows why. Anyway, yesterday, the article was about violence against the moon. And I'm like what????
Apparently, they're going to shoot explorers at the moon to see if they can break some ice into water. It sounds good to me. See if we can't expand to the moon, because, the reality is we're actually going to reach capacity during our lifetime people!! But, the article said that some peopl are complaining that they don't like the idea because they see it as violence against the moon.
Wow!! I mean, come on is that not silly?
Then, today, I signed on and there was a story about how there are apparently 11 planets. Whoa!! They just took one away, and, apparently they added 2 more when we weren't looking!!!
Whoa, ho! I am flabbergasted. What appears to have happened is that, since 1801 there was a dwart planet (which is what Pluto is now considered) called Ceres and another one called Eris was discovered in 2003. What I can't understand is why no one ever taught me about this in school. Well, Ceres anyway, Eris I understand.
But, apparently now according to this article on Yahoo, the girl won a contest about how to teach all the little kids about these 11 planets with one of those mnemoic things. It's going to be My Very Exciting Magic Carpet Just Sailed Under Nine Palace Elephants, which the article raves over as very sensical. I'm not so sure, but if it will adjust the error, perhaps its a good thing.
I guess I'm just upset because they took away Pluto and now they're randomly putting in other planets. I was sad when they took away Pluto... what about you?

"When I was your age, Pluto was a planet!"
Anyway, I don't really see why they had to take Pluto out. If it's not a planet, we shouldn't have called it that in the first place! ^_^ But why stop there? Let's add all new hunks of rock we find as planets, and soon, we'll have several dozen!
I miss Pluto! ^_^
"Everyone feels benevolent if nothing happens to be annoying him at the moment." - C.S. Lewis
...because Pluto hasn't cleared its own distinct orbit and occasionally violates Neptune's space. The scientists determined that Neptune was not at fault. Rather, Pluto's orbit is slightly erratic and hasn't reached equilibrium yet.
Yes, I know there is a logical reason, I guess it's just annoying because we all grew up knowing something and then it suddenly wasn't true anymore. I guess it's just that I'm not a science person. :)
Poor Pluto, always getting the short end of the stick.
I don't see a problem with this testing the ice on the moon. It's always good to have a back up plan, isn't it?
