Well, I was at our annual state games last weekend timing the swimming and it was horrible. Some of the parents were screaming at their kids some even yelling for their kid to beat the kid next to them who had been on crutches for an ankle injury. I've even heard some of the parents making excuses for their kids any time they didn't better their time. How pathetic. Another time, at our championship meet, a parent started yelling at our pool manager and coaches because her kid was taken off of a relay for not being there for warm-ups. They got there in time for the relay, but how was the coach to know? And this was a recreational meet in that instance. Not one of the big meets where the kids travel all over. Parents need to stay out of their kids activities that much and just let them have fun.

Parents need to stop being obnoxious in the stands too. A lady a couple of years ago was so obnoxious...it got on people's nerves. She would yell "Go Jack" during his races and yell at him in a very shrill voice to hurry and get dressed or hurry and get lined up. Ugh. Leave the poor kid alone and let him have some fun or he will end up hating the sport.
