Starbucks is not so enviromentally friendly..

There are so many companies today that are encouraging others to recycle by printing logos on their products or printing slogans in their ads.  By doing so, people are more willing to buy their product verse another that is non-recyclable.  Almost everyone world wide has heard of Starbucks.  If you are a customer you might have seen printed on their cup sleeves the slogan that reads, “Help us help the planet.”  Surprisingly, many cities nationwide are not able to recycle their cups.  This is due to their leak-proof coating that the cups have.  Because of the extra coating the cups are not able to be recycled with other paper products.  If Starbucks wanted to produce a cup that is more recyclable, this in turn would be more cost efficient and would raise prices.

It is very interesting of how companies associate themselves with being environmentally friendly, which in turn catches the consumer’s eye.  Being a consumer you would think that they are 100% environmentally friendly, but they are not.  A company should let you know that their cups aren’t able to be recycled in every state.  I do not believe that this would pull customers away at all.

Whether Starbucks decides to change to a more recyclable cup or not, I don’t believe that they will see a difference in sales or lose any business over it.  But, I do believe that they should change the logo that is printed on their sleeves, because to some it is misleading and a bit hypocritical.

Yes, I also believe that they won't lose business or profits over this because I heard that they might be planning a music recording company.

What? That is bogus and the most random thing I have ever heard. What is your source? Who told you that they are planning a music record company? Don't buy everything you hear. It goes to show that there a lot of gullible people out there. I know this company VERY VERY well, and believe me, if they were planning a record company the stock market would be all over it.

Thanks for opening my eyes up about this issue. I sometimes need to be reminded that we are responsible for taking care of our world; this was a good reminder!

You guys, they are doing the best they can. ITs not their fault that not everything is recyclable.

Do you know how to find out if your city is able to recycle their cups? Because I always throw my cup in the recycle, but maybe I should just save the recycling plants the trouble. You know what else I just realized, inside Starbucks there is not trash can for recycling. So if you stay there (like I do between classes) you have no choice but to trash your cup. Hmmm.
I heard if you bring your own mug / cup they will give you a whopping ten cents off. I haven't tried this yet.

I want to bring my own mug, but I don't think that they will take just any, will they? It has to be the precise of THEIR cups, and how do I figure that out? I want to bring my own cup because its healthier to drink coffee that way. The coating on the cups is REALLY REALLY bad for you, and so is the styrofoam which you sip coffee out of. I always take the styrofoam lid off.

I have a mug that is 16oz which is the size of a grande, but I always get a tall, so that's why I've never done it. I guess you'd just have to find a mug or cup that was the size of whatever drink you order. A tall is 12oz and a venti is 20oz.

Where are your sources??? Saying something is REALLY REALLY bad for you doesn't give much in the way of anything...

"Natural Cures They DOn't Want You TO Know About"
There are plenty of books on this subject, just google them. jUst because you are shletered by society and have never heard of it doesn't mean that it isn't true.

The label is on the sleeve, not the cup. So this information is not misleading. I am from Seattle and the cups are able to be recycled there. If you think it is a problem that your state cannot recycle it, then you should petition for a newer recycle facility in your state. With all the new ways to recycle different materials eventually every state will need to upgrade their recycling plants.

Oh, I didn't know that we could do that.

I don't think they made their cups not recyclable on purpose. Like you said, some states can recycle it right? I think there are other things that Starbucks did to claim that they help out the environment. Maybe it's the water they're selling? It's not like people will stop drinking it...I'm not too sure if they'll change the style of their cups either. But thanks for the warning.

Why does it matter really? IT can be broken down so whats the problem? We should be talking about plastic instead.
